I started one a while ago, but gimil said that i shouldnt because he thought you (lanyards) were coming back to it...
It wasnt too good, but if no one else is, I'd be willing to do it.
I think a competition would be great though.

BUT the other ones werent even declared as abandoned or anything.,
and plus you didnt ask him about it,
and you had a number of projects going at the same time
and i think tha the others would have gone better

Fuzzy's was, Lanyards had disappeared.
I did get his (marv?) permission.
I had 1 map at the time, Switz.
I said i would only do it if no one else wanted to. PLus, it wasnt THAT bad...search it.

Yep, I thought about the idea for about three hours before I abandoned it. I don't much care for how the map is structured, and since a graphics revamp doesn't allow for gameplay changes I don't want to work on something I can't fully get behind. I know there are others who love the map and continue to play it, so I think it would be a good candidate for a competition, Canada-style.
as a brazilian, this map really sucked to me. there are several things that don't work in it, one of the being the impassible borders (and i know this has been discussed earlier).
If you're wanting to try a revamp, then you'll need to get approval from the original cartographer.
If you're wanting to create a new Brazil/South America map, then start a thread in the ideas sub-forum once you've got a starting image.
PB: 2661 | He's blue...If he were green he would die | No mod would be stupid enough to do that

I don't mind the gameplay of the map, but the graphics need some work.
If there was a competition, I'd definitely give it a try, as long as the deadline is at least the end of July, so I would have enough time to get it together.
I agree with wcaclimbing with regard to the time limit. if there's a competition, you want to give people plenty of time. Furthermore, I think multiple rounds should be done.
if there's 6 attempts, give the top 2 or 3 (or everyone) a shot at making changes based on the feedback they get (2 weeks or so). That way it's not just who gets the best map done by the time the competition starts, but who can also move the map forward and respond to comments (or at the least allows someone who missed with their first attempt to get another shot to fix it).
I think it should just be one best wins (and gets comments/suggestions).
With multiple maps all moving to the next round, things would get rather confusing because people would have to give out different comments for each map. I'd rather keep it simple and just have one best.
Gimil, do you think this could be a competition? I'd love to start working on it. I'd be up for a "Brazil 2.0" contest, or just straight graphics revamp.
but this is about making the best map. not who can make the best map by the deadline.
let people see them and give comments. reworking them can help get the maps further towards a final product. sometimes you have one map done well so that others which have more potential lose votes to that map. the final products could be better but they weren't really given a chance.
seeing what people do after comments is a much better way to go.
It's not hard to avoid confusion. Once the deadline happens post a thread to show all the maps. Either an initial 2 week vote happens (or a 2 week 'comment' period happens) and whoever moves forward (or everyone) is given 2 weeks to work thanks to the comments. After that deadline another thread is created and that's the one that will decide the 'winner'
people were commenting on each map during the canada revamp and these comments could've been used to help each map. it wasn't confusing at all.
