A revised foe list for ppl who join games with foes in them

Postby KoE_Sirius on Sat Jun 28, 2008 9:47 am

THIS THREAD IS DIRECTED AT SPEED PLAYERS.IF ITS POSSIBLE TO MAKE THESE CHANGES JUST TO SPEED GAMES.I'D BE HAPPY
Some members have an extensive foe list.Yet they still join the games with these players in them.

I consider this unfair as we can not join games with these players in them, but they can join ours.I also think having an extensive foe list limits the amounts of games created on cc.So I don't have any foes currently and would have to feel very very strongly about adding someone to to my list.

Most of the players have been in agreement that if a foe'r joins a game.He should recieve a warning that he has joined a game with one of his foe and would he like to leave. If he remains in the game that player is removed from his foe list.
Speed games sometimes take 10 minutes to start or never start at all because some players have an extensive foe list we need to stop this now.

This seems fairly reasonable, but I wonder what the advantage is to doing this?

Anyone that is on a foes list cant join a lot of games. They get excluded just because one player out of 7 has him on his foe list..The advantage is being able to join more games.

but being on one person's foe list will only ban you from a fraction of a percentage of the games started daily. and if your on enough people's foe lists so that it becomes an issue, then perhaps the issue isnt with the people that are foeing you, but with the person getting foed.

p.s. i know im on a couple of peoples foe lists, but the only time that it ever comes up is when there is a battle royale. never tried to join a regular game to find out that i cant.

This has very little to do with what I am requested...Basically it is not fair to have a foe and join his game so I want a stop to it.

so let me get this.... if you have some1 on your list and you join a game with them already in it they get kicked? terrible, why punish them even further. if that were to happen people could stalk other players games and just join the game everytime they try to get one going. that would piss me off to no end.

the best solution is an a page or pop up that appears when you try to join a game with some1 in your list

I like the idea better that you cant join games with them in it, since otherwise once you have joined you could just put them back on the list

I completely agree with what KeoSirius is saying. The foe list obviously needs a lot of work, including a choice of viewing chat and forum posts, and allowing people to join games with their foes but the other person gets an email notifying them that the foe has joined the game. Like you said, one should not ruin things for the other 7.

i agree with sirius 100%, i think its crap ppl can foe you preventing you from joining games with them but they can still join yours dictating the circumstances of play, if you foe someone you should lose every ability to play with them

I think what might be happening in some cases is that people foe others because they have lost to them.

Then they might, in some cases go ahead and join the game with a foe in it, if the game is one they think they are more likely to win. or, perhaps even as someone else said, becaus they want to play even if that person is on their foe list?

the other way I can see this happening is if someone joins not realizing someone else is on their foe list. I don't think that can happen???

Am I understanding the situation now?

If so, then I really don't see what this would fix. Sure, you could then join their games ... until they put you back on their foe list, which could be right away or as soon as that game is over.

The big question is why would you want to play someone who had you on their foe list, unless it were a tournament or some such.

Its not for me to reason why they joined foe games.Just that they do and when they do the foe should be removed as a default setting.
Plain and Simple.
I don't think many of these little dictators are going to keep adding and taking away foes..Its time consuming.

ah i didnt understand your idea, i thought you meant remove the player from the game not the foe list. i still think that having something tell you they are on your list would be optimal though. you can forget you added some1 to your list and why but would you really want a reminder why?

This idea wouldn't really change anything as people could take someone off of their foe list to join a game and then put them back on afterwards. If it bothers you that people who have you on their foe list can join your games you have the option of putting them on your foe list to correct the situation.

I wouldn't like this. I put some people on ignore because they don't know what they're doing on certain maps/settings or I don't want to read their obnoxious posts. I'd still play games with them (and do) on other settings or if I don't have to read their chat.

if you find out youre on a foe list, and you dont want that person in a game, you just have to put them on yours...

if you get blocked from every person on your foe list, you could miss out on games, and its very possible that person doesnt care if you are in his games.. if he did...hed have put you on foe... my foe list is 90% made up of people i havent played.. its forum, or others posts or feedback that got them there... so theres no personal situation at all..they wouldnt care if i joined, and might even welcome it.. if not, theyd put me on ignore too...

the system as it is works much better. It limits those who get on ignore lists.. not those who use them.

I suggest that once a player joins a game with a member who is one of his/her foes that the name be removed from that list as default

A better and more practical idea would be to make the Foe List a double edge sword, meaning if you foe someone not only can they not join games you are already in the same goes for you not being able to join their games they are involved in. Keep it fair and balanced that way...

If, for any reason, player 1 puts player 2 on his foes list, then player 2 should not be allowed to join any games in which player 1 is already waiting to play, under any circumstances.

However, there is no reason why player 1 should not be allowed to join in player 2's games, unless player 2 also has player 1 on his foes list.

If you don't want someone to join your games, just put him on your foes list -- problem solved!

Guys, the foes list works in your favor, if you know how to put it to good use. It is there for your protection from the loud and obnoxious minority of jerks who lurk on this site.

The foes system works exactly as it should, as it is right now. No adjustment is necessary.

the problem is you dont know whose foe list you are on sometimes and they may join 10 of your games until you find out you had been foe'd by them, i think it's stupid and a flaw of the system. if you foe (ignore) someone you should not be allowed any contact with them, intentional or accidental unless removed from the foe list.

Unfortunately, what you are suggesting amounts to a punishment for utilizing the foes list.

That is unacceptable.

Actually what we are referring to amounts to accountability if you want to foe someone fine but have no involvement with them. It is like a cc restraining order, in that neither party is allowed contact with the other and once one initiates it they are just as accountable if they make contact, except here it can be written that no contact will occur unless order is dropped...

But I would imagine your granddad would also say that if "everybody" hates you ... they might have a reason.

I have very few people on my foe list. Mostly, they are people who I don't want to play under any circumstances.... such as the guy who went into a bunch of games telling everybody not to play "XYZ" and then spouting a bunch of racial epitaphs. I believe the guy was ousted from CC shortly after, but I have him on my list "in case".

The exceptions are 2 people I temporarily put on because I got tired of waiting for their extremely long sigs to download when going through the forums. I would happily play games with them, but cannot be bothered to put them on and off every time I want to look at the forums.

NONE of these limits the number of games I can play in any significant way.

If you find yourself limited, then I would say the real solution is to change your behavior so people don't keep putting you on their ignore lists.
