Concise description:To enable an option for tourney organizer to create games with no points in them. These games would only record the win/loss and no points would be gained/lost in them.
I do realise that the majority of some peoples games are tourney games. That is why i think this idea should be an optional setting for anyone organising a tourney.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:I personally don't participate in tourneys because of the huge amount of points i'd be bound to lose in them. I think that alot of high rankers think the same. If this idea was passed, I think we'd see alot more high rankers in tourneys and therefore more competition in them.
There's plenty of competition in tournaments as things are, and the high rankers who aren't obsessive over their points do compete in them. And many do well in them such as BaldAdonis and killmanic.
As for the no points, I'm very hesitant to back this idea because if the majority of tournaments opted to do this, many players would have their points totals suffer.
some people play only tourneys for the most part so there score wouldn't be much.

I do believe it is because Lack does not wish to have games with no points on CC. I'm pretty sure he has said that before.
As for my personal opinion. If you are scared of losing points, you don't belong in a tournament. There are plenty of examples of good players who play a high percentage of tournament games and keep a pretty decent score.

I personally never want to see no points games of any form. It only serves to feed inflation and help the top brass keep the points they have without having to risk them if they want to play more games.

Tbh, the reason i decided to suggest this was because I was thinking about how awesome it would be to have a major tournament each year where most of the community would compete in. I would have thought that the privileges to make no points tourneys would be given at yourself and OP's discretion. i.e. only on rare occasions where you thought it would benefit the tourney.

To me, tournaments are about prestige and having fun playing people in a more structured gaming environment. Do people join tournaments to inflate there score? I would say, no. My suggestion was purely to integrate the higher ranks into tournaments here at cc. If you don't want that, so be it.

I'm not for or against. If this did happen, I'd stay right where I am because 99% of my games are tournament. I could theoretically pass the 4000 mark and just play tournaments forever and keep a record for longest reign held or something.
Not sure how well it would work- it would allow some to play for the joy of it. But I think it would also be another way to abuse the system- someone could play just tournies to gain experience instead of having to actually put points on the line in [real] games.

I don't really like this idea but I would like a system where points in the individual games aren't awarded in the individual games but rather pooled and awarded at the end of the tourney according to finishing positions. (and yea (IIRC) this has been suggested and rejected before but still

I'm always forgotten, dammit Don't I do good? I already won 5 tourneys anyways optimus prime has a point, more high ranked people would join these games without loss of much points. So it is worth an effortn only a few high ranked participate in tourneys because the high point loss.

The effort needed to implement it is not worth the catering to a handful of players, no. If they want to play tournaments, they can do them privately amongst their own ranks, or join up with the rest of us.
