Earthquake (5.4) hits Los Angeles 7/29

Postby Kid_A on Wed Jul 30, 2008 12:56 am

Anyone else in SoCal?

Wasn't "The Big One" that they say we're do for, but it nearly shook me out of bed!!

Being woken up by an earthquake is not a pleasurable experience. I do not recommend it!

Sucks to be you guys. I remember a few back when I lived in Japan. Usually not a pleasant experience even if you're awake.

Did DaGip predict it? If he didn't it didn't happen.

But seriously, I hope you're ok over there.

Actually, it was more like 11:40AM... ;)

It definitely caught my attention, and was a little worrisome in how long it lasted. But my TV didn't fall off my wall, so all is well.

Until the next one.

There's an earthquake in my apartment every morning. Actually, like every ten minutes, when the A Train rumbles by.

Seriously it wasn't even a big deal. I was about twenty miles from the epicenter and I barely felt it. No damage anywhere, but five minutes after the fact all three national news stations are talking about it like the world's about the come to an end. Must've been a slow news day.

Yes, having grown up in California, this is pretty much my reaction to anything less than a 6.0! : )

But it is good to see that building codes sometimes do work! : )
