Here is the history:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=57658

I believe SL was actually asking for what I was referencing, aka the average points of your opponent. Which would be like "average opponent rank 1800" or something; your method actually conveys the exact same results, with just one more math equation needed.

Give me the equation, I will do it...

I have no idea how it would be done, or if it would even be possible to calculate the person's points at the time of the game. But it would be something like... just merely counting up every single person's point totals you've ever played and dividing by the number of players. It wouldn't matter if it was a single-player game or 8-player games because the number of games you've played would be irrelevant.

You'd also have to recount anyone you've played twice... for example if I've played vs player A over 20x, then you'd count up that person's points 20x in the equation... if possible you wouldnt' have their current point total but the poitns they had at the time you played them... I'm not sure it's possible to do that thought.

I was being sarcastic, Fabled, but your thinking is along the same lines as everyone. In SL's thread, I was exploring this but unfortunately concluded the current system may not allow the required calculation. Terminator games screw this into oblivion anyway. Not possible, I think, sadly unless lack tells me he's timestamped every point change in which case we're there.

How did you manage to do the "relative rank" then..?

Relative rank reads the game logs. Each gain of points in the game log = (loser/winner) * 20
so Relative rank = points gain / 20

Rabbit,Mobajborg, Torcav are prime examples of players who simply dont deserve any respect for their high scores.

Not neccesarily now guys, c'mon, rabitton was a 3K player well before he even attempted this. I was a 4K player well before I even attempted this, and yes I tried it out cause I sux at freestyle and wanted to try to get better at it and worked from the bottom up, I lost about 1500 points or more during that stretch dropping me down to like a 2750 score, lowest I had since august 2006. I didnt get the concept and was new myself to it, plus found myself missing lots of turns due to work, but would come back within a 24 hours span, still my turn was missed at times, sighs.when I tried and didnt understand why. I am a bit better at it now, but still dont like it much, but I wanted to be a well rounded player at everything, so I used it as practice, but was very costly, losing 98 points a game and winning 3???????, quite pathetic, but i got hooked, lol

Also, when the 1st 5's and Top 5's started taking off and becoming more popular, i wanted to make more lists to try to compete with jr, lol, that competitive soul he is, lol. as I found many started trying it, then got pretty addicting, thota had to save me out from them as I was whining in our forums how I was getting pounded by noobs, lol, thats right, freestyle 1 on 1's killed my score and I found some of them noobs had multi accounts and were much better than they appeared, plus poor dice in others, and bad drops in others, I mean there was several times noobs out of randomness would just get dealt bonus after bonus to start the game, i found them to be a lot of luck. so you can call me noob farmer too if you all want, lol, thats fine, but i would say the noobs form my experience were a blitz farmer, farming me, lol.

finally, this is not really fair system either cause it highly favors the singles 6 to 8 players, they are going to get a ton more points then team players on an average, and average team win may be around 20 points and an average singles win is about 150 points, give or take a dozen or so. so the great singles players who win 1 of 3 (33%) which is really good 6 player or higher, maybe get 150 points for the win, and lose 20 times 2, lose 40 or 50 maybe, net worth of 100 plus and MORE if it is 7 or 8 players. as where in teams in you win 2 of 3 which is 67% really good, you win 20 plus 20, 40 points and lose one 20 points, net worth of 20 points.

so, this system is flawed too ladies and gents
sorry to rain on all of your parade, lol

the scoring system is fine and fair to all

if someone outscores you and some get jealous or whatever stupid reason, pm them for a challenge or put it i callouts and play a 60 to 100 games series, that will prove who is much better than anything else.

my 2 cents worth

respects, blitzer ;)

:-s Huh? Ummm, I disagree with you on that post Blitz. If you are assuming that you are always going to play people of the same rank, the number of people in the game doesn't affect how fairly points are distributed. It all boils down to whether or not you can beat more people than you lose to.

I find it funny that you say that 6-8 player singles games are favored in the system. A few months ago, I recall someone saying that high scores weren't as deserved/worth as much unless you played 6-8 player singles!

Anyways, each to his own.

hey poo... i think what Blitz is saying, is that this new 'noob farming' rating thing looks more kindly upon singles than team players.

i play a good mix of games but i generally don't prey upon low rankers .. i am rated a 'noob farmer' in many of the maps... that has to be the impact of the team games i play ...which are mostly against similar ranks too....

anyway, regardless of this new rating, Blitz is one of the finest team players on the site and can turn a hand to any discipline, against any standard of opposition.

There is a new version coming that measures losses as well as wins, meaning you will have an average relative opponent score not just for kills
which removes the bias for large player games.
Also more importantly I cocked up the team calculations so team players are screwed at the moment...

Ahhh, I see. i didn't think about the rating, I thought that he was saying that the singles players did better on the scoreboard.

Yep, i've got to admit that if you're unsure about team games, playing with JR or Blitz is fantastic. They always have alot of advice in game chat.

rabbiton. my 8 yo just logged on to cc and created an account, DODOFLYER, so he could be like his daddy. when he told me he had started a game i thought it was pretty funny. he lost it was a doodle earth freestyle but he had fun and started another game on classic and rabbiton joined, a general # 7 on the scoreboard, i searched his games going right now and he has 30 going with blue ?s. its taking everything i got to not jump in and steal some points from this douche bag. if thats what it takes to get to the top of the score board ill be stayin herearound 1600. let me declare now that ill never play any games for my boy but may be there to give him some advice till he gets up to speed. rabbiton as for you ... you play with out honor

In all fairness to rabbiton...
A) it's not like he knew he was playing an 8 year old
B) you've been here a long time, you know that 1v1 freestyle is open season, and yet you encouraged your son to start such a game

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of such aggressive farming, but you're laying a lot of shit at his doorstep that isn't necessarily his fault.

Perhaps in multi-player singles- Jimmi, but can you see a big difference in 1 vs 1s and dubs?

true enough Scotty! but i don't play them ... so they are off my radar of comprehension.

I think Chip is working on the Team calculations so we can get a more accurate reading.

It is being tested by a handful of us already - and the numbers are coming out a far bit differently.

My own "relative rank" is now 630 - still lower than I hoped, but far better than the incorrect calculation I got yesterday!

Remember also that the new calculation includes losses as well meaning it measures the relative rank of every opponent played rather than just killed (the latter being biased depending on number of players and teams).

Doesn't sound right. Sounds like you're running with the old version but with new finished games added.

Running with the next version not yet available you get 689 - is that what you see now?

Same place as the old version.

http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/28160.user.js

You should have version 1.5.1

My guess is you need a rescan if you already have this version.

Change the Rank and Points checkbox.
Run RiskTycoon + All in left menu
