Yes, greenhouse gas is a reasonable explanation.

I pretty much slam dunked your argument. Less than 2 degrees! Evidence of global warming due to SUV's? I guess in the winter here in NY you could make a case for us entering an "ice age". ;)

NOT EVEN CLOSE JAY!!!!

If you had learned even a LITTLE real science, you would know full well that a 2 degree alteration WORLDWIDE is a HUGE change. It is enough to cause irreperable fundamental harm.

Further, though it might not seem intuitive to the uneducated scientifically, the overall change is less than the full picture because with only a small change in the ocean temperatures the Gulf Stream and Jet Streams --- the HUGE ocean currents that change climates in Europe et al, will cease. THAT will actually cause some areas to be colder, because much of northern Europe (England, Denmark, etc.) are kept warm by those ocean waters.

None is so ignorant as he who refuses to see .... and no, sorry, you can't put that label on me. I AM fully aware of what passes for your version of "science" ... and I know the real truth! You, consistently show that you refuse to even look for reality!

Unless there is a reasonable explination.

No, regardless of the cause, unless we change the track we will be experiencing some very negative effects. It is not just the melting of the polar ice caps, Greenland, etc, OR even the hole in the ozone that we need to fear the most. What will cause the worst problem is the alteration of the oceans currents. Also, we HAVE experienced many of these events in human history, and definitely before. The record is pretty clear that people don't fare well during ice ages, natural or not!

That has never happened before. I believe that the Earth is about 10 degrees hotter worldwide than it has ever been in the past, during this part of the climate change.

We just aren't the cause of the climate change, there is a difference.

And here we go off on CO2 again. Everyone claims that CO2 causes global warming, when the evidence is to the contrary. The temperature rises before C02 rises in many cases, which means C02 doesn't cause it.

IF you look at the relation between solar activity and global warming, the correlation is very evident. Scientists agree that the sun's activity is at a much higher level then it has been in the last 8,000 years. Coincidence? I think not.

And i love how you all ignore the points I make against you.

Your "facts" are disputed by the largest consensus of climate scientists EVER. I don't have the time to track down your unnamed sources, but the folks who dispute this are with only a very few exceptions NOT really climate scientists. AND, most have other agendas -- either they belong to the religious right or are funded by certain other interest groups. I am not saying they are intentionally lying, but it is amazing how hard it is to find disagreeing data when your entire (large) paycheck and those of everyone around you depend upon obtaining a specific type of information. STILL, the fact that there was the largest consensus of scientists EVER agreeing on this issue speaks volumes!

Then explain how it can be 80 degrees on Monday and 85 degrees on Tuesday! That's FIVE degrees change! In a 24 hour period! My goodness, things should be dieing off by the multitudes!

... I love these never-ending debates about science which maybe one in five hundred of us actually truly comprehend.

... The man who wrote the following is a scientist asking serious questions to the GW crowd.

... It's very straightforward and nonpolitical. Refreshing.

... Read it and perhaps you will question the strength of your devotion to one side or the other.

... Just food for thought.

Wow, you really do miss the point, and show an exceedingly large gap of understanding. One to two degrees change in the world average yearly temperature if enormous. You best read up on this because nothing is going to make sense to you until you get it.

Fixed.

Yes, carbon increases are started by warming temperatures, but still increases temperatures, like several other causes of global warming.

There is a lot of methane trapped in permafrost at the poles. As temperatures rise, permafrost melts and methane is released into the atmosphere, making temperatures rise more.

As temperatures rise, ice melts at the poles. The ocean water is darker and absorbs much more heat, making temperatures rise more.

Carbon is similar to those two examples.

Oh, and jay:
Yes, 2 degrees over 200 years is huge. Don't display your ignorance on this topic and your general retardation.

Just to get ya'll back on track here.

1. The Earth has warmed less than 1 degree Fahrenheit in the last 100 years.

2. Carbon Dioxide accounts for less than a .1 % of the atmospheric gases.

This is so basic, you are flat out ignorant. Entire ecosystems can disappear with a 1 degree rise in average world temperature. I am blocking you, cause reading your blather isn't worth the time.

Really? Well its risen almost 2 degrees in the last 180 years or so. So tell me Mr. Brainiac, which ecosystems have disappeared? You are a gullible fool.

And I find it laughable that all these GW fanatics, although excelling at name calling, can't refute a single thing I've said. And when the going gets tough, they run to their profile to block me.

Jay if you think you're presenting arguments you are so wrong. The only thing you have ever done on these forums is flount your ignorance.

And I think you may be showing off more and more of it.

Jay it's the fucking average temperature. If the temperature rises by only 2 degrees in 200 years that is bad news for a lot of ecosystems.

And jay if you think the ecosystems are completely fine, then you are so unbelievably ignorant that I don't even know how you can use the computer

Show me! Don't just blather spew all over the forum! Document what ecosystems have experienced "bad news" in the past 200 years. You are just regurgitating that same non-backed garbage over and over. So show me. Maybe a list of all the species that have become extinct in that last 200 years. You are so wise this should be a piece of cake.

Excuse me for dousing myself in kerosene after reading what Jay wrote.

Jay, read up about the Great Barrier Reef, and why average temperature rise is killing the reef. It's making some organism extinct.

I truly believe it is you who needs to :-#, or get some basic knowledge of what you are talking about.
