these unreal drops

Post by stopher72 »

I just can't help myself but to see if i'm alone in the point of drops. I've been on CC for a while now & I can't recall ever having such a high amount of starts, where one players drop is so insurmountably unbalanced of all others. & I mean "UNF*#^%NG BELIEVABLY SO"! The kind where even if CC had just given one player free reign of the board to pick all their territories themselves. I doubt some of your players could do as well in their selections. Your (generator) seems to have suddenly become "predestinate". I will look at my history & reply w/ game #'s later. But my point is just to see, does anyone else notice this? If so, more commonly, as well severely (unbalanced) drops? Thanks

Random is as random does.

I have had plenty of drops for and against my favour, it's the nature of the game. There are moves by some mapmakers to make maps that create fairer drops, but really it comes down to the game type pitched against the map. Some maps just don't play well with some gametypes, and you have to learn the maps in order to learn what works well on the maps. In my guild, we are trying to find the most fair and balanced map combinations, so that any game we plays is dependant more on skill and dice, than skill drop and dice.

1v1 doodle is a crapshoot for instance. I've had as many bad drops on that as good. In fact a lot of maps have problems with 1v1. Team games can help eliminate the problems with random drops, but really in the end it comes down to learning the maps, exercising skill and communication, and most importantly knowing when to stop attacking.

i mean a game starting off & the player with first move by random generation also has one or more of the boards bonuses. How hards it to program into the equation that if a bonus is pregenerated then first roll cannot be also. because i dont care who you are or how you play recovering from this is mostly an impossibility. Since you're losing count-ups from the usual 1-2 losses on a first roll. now being upwards of 5+. where do you get to regroup or even assemble in this case? you don't so i'm not saying drops are my nemesis, but the conditions of which they are able to occur can on occassion be overt. And that it's becoming (& yes i play alot of 1-1 now) more prevalent. why cant it be balanced>?>is all i'd like to know

In 3 on 3...I've seen a guy drop on aussie to start. But that sort of thing is far less frequent for one person to drop like that. The team might drop that way....but rarely one person.

In 1 on 1....I've seen all kinds of crazy good drops for people. Since...well....about half goes this way....other half goes that way.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
