attack from multiple countries at once

Post by mukherjeeprem »

In most games of risk, if you have multiple adjacent countries that each have armies, you can attack with armies from multiple countries at the same time which is how it might be done in a REAL battle...surround the enemy and attach from all sides. I think this would make the game much more versatile.

Priority =3

Exactly how would that work? And how is it different from attacking with the armies in one of those countries and then with the armies from another of those countries?

That concept is STRICTLY forbidden in almost all versions of Risk. The only time I've seen this happen is in Risk II, where all the players move at the same time.

In games with chained fortification, if I have more than one army in a territory neighboring the enemy and a bunch in another adjoining territory, I will usually reinforce the lesser territory up to four armies and take a "pot shot" three-dice attack from there to (a) waste some armies out of a territory I'll never use again and (b) soften the enemy territory for the main assault from my other armies. I have to be careful, though, so as not to overcome the defenders with my first foray, so I usually only do this at territories occupied by more than two enemy armies. This is practically the same thing as attacking from multiple countries, and is as close as you can get in the game of RISK. Of course, I do love suggestions! :lol:

What good would it do to attack from multiple palces at once?

why?

Every version of risk I've ever played allows you to do this...most recently mission risk v3.

Here's why it's helpful.
Let's say you have two territories that you have to fortify to protect your area. Both of those territories are bordering an enemy territory that has a lot of guys. With the current game, the only way to bring all your armies would be to make sure they are all in ONE of your two territories which means you have to leave your second territory wide open for attack.

Think about it...in a real battle if you had 5 countries surrounding one country, would you attach one at a time? NO
Would you try to merge all your armies into one large army leaving your other four territories open? NO

So why should you be limited here?

yeh this wouldn't b risk and wats the advantage anyway? the only time it would actually help is if u had a load of countries with 3 on and wanted to get the extra dice to help u but then it wouldn't b risk if u didn't hav this problem :P

It would only be helpful if you got to use 3 dice from every attacking country at once. That would be interesting to say the least, but I think it would change the game wayyy too much.

the only main difference for most attacks, is that once you have won, if you were attacking from both at once then your armies would be joined together to continue attacking instead of only carrying forward the winning country's armies

that said, I think it's fine the way it is
