Greets yet again....
OK, this revision shall be herewith known as NCAA theme 2.0. I've made a minor correction, spelling out when tournament updates will be made and added two charts: one showing the initial conference alginment, which will also be used to post the final conference championship; and another showing the tournament brackets that I'll use as the games progress. I've also made the bowl names permanent (unless I get further suggestion), made the USA map official and added flat rate spoils.
Details for the proposed NCAA themed football tournament "Who Needs the Stinkin' BCS!"....
(ver. 2.0)
Players: 5 in each conference (40 total), playing 8 preliminary games (one game per conference). Conference champs advance to the quarter-finals; quarter winners to the semi-finals and the two remaining players meet for the championship (40 > 8 > 4 > 2 > 1).
Updates: Tournament updates will be posted as soon as possible after the completion of each round.
Game type: standard, sequential, casual. Open to free and premium players.
Map: USA
Spoils: flat rate
Reinforcements: unlimited
Fog of War: no
Tournament Conferences (and team examples)
Atlantic Coast (Boston College, Florida State, Virgina Tech, Georgia Tech, etc.)
Big Ten (Penn State, Ohio State, Northwestern, et al)
Big 12 (Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.)
Mountain West (Utah, BYU, Air Force...)
Pacific 10 (USC, UCLA, Washington, Cal, et al)
Southeastern (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, etc.)
Western Athletic (Boise St., Hawaii, LA Tech, San Jose State...)
Independent (Notre Dame, Army, Navy, Western Kentucky*)
(* The BCS only lists these 4 teams as independents. )
Players may choose a team from one of the conferences to represent in the tournament (one per player, no repeats.) but this has no bearing on the outcome; it's for bragging rights only. If a player wants a team that's already been picked by someone else, he/she can choose an alternate from one of the following non-tournament conferences:
Big East (Cincinnati, Pitt, W. Virginia, etc.)
Conference USA (E. Carolina, UAB, UTEP, SMU, etc.)
Mid-American (Temple, Kent St., Ball St., etc.)
Sun Belt (Troy, LA-Lafayette, Arkansas St., etc.)
The 11 conferences and 4 major independents are all part of the BCS's Football Bowl Subdivision (or FBS), the teams that - in theory - are all eligible for the BCS National Championship "play-offs".
(all information is per rivals.com from Yahoo! sports)
