To the best player, anyone else should have a score lower to his, so virtually anyone he plays should be considered farming.

A player who is good on a particular map and chooses to play on it consistently is farming. If they wish not to farm, then they should changed the setting and move to a map where they are unfamiliar...otherwise it is farming

I just looked at Me-Da-MiNoRiTY's last 100 games...

I could only see 2 games which he joined which at the point of his joining was made up of "low rankers" (i.e. Lieutenant and below).

How on earth can you call him a n00b farmer :?: :?: :?:

:ugeek:
Well take a look at his map rank stats. They are far, from being anywhere close, to being impressive. On the contrary, they are rather poor.
He has played on 58 maps, None with a higher rank than Equlitarian. 49 maps with ranks of point hoarder or noob farmer. To call you "easily impressed", would be a gross understatement. To call that record pathetic, ...would be kind.

Ah, so after weeks of reading your shrill posturing, your cries of "The scoreboard is unfair! Farmers are ruining CC!", the point finally emerges. This isn't about points, or farming, or the scoreboard, or the health of CC.

It's all about you.

You somehow think that if people look at your relative rank, everyone will say to themselves, "Gee, that whiny bastard with the annoying animated avvy sure is a good player! We should listen to him! Wow he's amazing!"

News flash: relative rank, not exactly the most reliable statistic in the first place, has less and less meaning the higher you get on the scoreboard. The reason yours might be better than MDM's is because he's in the top tenth of a percentile, and practically every opponent he faces has a lower score.

So, you know, if you ever manage to prohibition chicago your way into the Top 100, then you might have an audience, since you'll be seeing things from his side of the aisle. But from where I'm sitting, those that whine about points wish they had more (or think they're somehow entitled to more), and those that impugn the skills of others wouldn't know solid play if it whacked them in the back of the head.

Do people farm? Yes. Does it really make that much difference? Probably not. Is it worth the thousands of words you've written on the subject? I'll let you guess that one.

Ok so here is the argument. On one side we think that playing a certain STYLE of game is not farming and only those who play noobs or low ranks is farming. On the other hand we have those who say farming is playing a game where its an "easy win". Well Max to disprove your argument, there is nothing easy about winning on a certain style of game, there are too many variable that go into it including map and type of players that are in the game (e.g. rank). This is unlike farming, and that is farming by playing noobs and low ranks, the only farming there is. This type of farming provides an "easy win"

So to sum it up you can't say we are all farmers because we play a certain style and its an "easy win" because its not an easy win its just a game type we like to play and since its the same type as everyone in the game everyone playing that game has an equal potential for winning. But your gameplay is categorized as an "easy win" by playing people who no nothing of the game. This is farming because you exploit their carelessness and unexperience.

You look for people, we look for game types.
You're a farmer, we're investors.

Maybe you did, but your answer is not quite understandable to someone who isn't familiar with your frazeology. There are only three valid answers - yes, no and I don't know. I can't tell which of those three is your answer.

And when it concerns the last part of your sentence...
I'm only a middle ranker, but consider myself a good player. And yes, I of course can play people on maps and settings less (or non) familiar to me. Am I a farmer? (assuming that previous statement is truth)

I keep seeing this flawed logic used over and over again. I just find it so hard to believe that there are people out there, that would come to such a conclusion. It boggles the mind.
RISK is a game. The object is to learn the game, to be better than all the rest. If you are able to become better than most, with, whatever maps or settings you choose, then you are indeed, on the winning path. ...You are not a farmer.
It is when you stake out the nursery school, and slaughter all the newbies, as they file out from the bus, that you become a FARMER.
What you are really saying is, It is unfair that skilled players win.
I for example like prob. Chg. std. no card unlimited. I have only run across a few who can play it as well as myself. But, (and here is the big difference), I start a public game, where anyone can join. I TAKE ON ALL COMERS.
I have started way more public doodles. (which by the way, is the easiest map at CC.)
So, learn the difference and spread the word, ass there are a lot of other knuckle-heads out there.

Let me give you a little piece of advice, if I do it, it is farming, and if you copy me, you are farming as well.

I play speed doubs, they might be public games, but those are farming.

You might not want to accept that it is farming because you feel the term is demeaning to your efforts of raising to the top of the scoreboard through playing "respectable players," but whether or not you consider map specialization farming, your joining against a n00b who incidentally deadbeated is.

I dont play cheats, groupies of cheats, and people whom I dont have respect for.

I play to have fun and enjoy the games I play, there is no reason why I should sacrifice my enjoyment of the game to prove something to people who I couldnt care less about.

Max your style is indeed farming and it is probably the worst case of farming out there. You actually invite noobs, not one but two, to play freestyle doubles on one of the hardest maps to understand...you...INVITE...them, thats just sick! :|

No... You misunderstood me... It's irrelevant whether I am a farmer.
My original question was - whether every good player is a farmer (considering that s/he always has an advantage)

you don't play to have fun you play to increase your rank as does everyone. If you wanted to play to have fun then you would play the exact style of map and settings with players other than noobs (and no im not saying 1 out of 10 games of that is acceptable).

How is it fun when a noob deadbeats 3 turns in a row, 2 turns in a row, or even once! Its not fun, you are just lying about your own objectives.

dude, we both know it has nothing to do with that

is it coincidence you foed the 3 players that you know could beat you and that would love to kick your ass because they happen to be the players you have no respect for and stuff?

i think not

Incandenza should be a lyrical dictator. He just pummeled you into a pulp of idiocy, tore down your points of thought oppression, and exposed you for the ignorant sap you truly are. How long are you going to sit up there on your high horse and believe that we are going to listen to these crumb bum arguments? To say that Me-Da and DAT don't deserve their rank is ludicrous. They play all types of games and dominate on a huge pallet of settings while maintaining their current rank and above. They've been that rank for what would seem like an eon now. They are both outstandingly sound players who I can assure you would beat the tar out of you in most given situations if not ANY. That is the exact same quote in which I noticed you starting to sound way too over zealous. The most amusing part of your battle cries is that you don't play many different game types what so ever Porky the fig. That is most apparent. Game history says far more then a transparent map rank will ever tell.

I'd like to also add this. Any one with a head on their shoulders would agree that 1 vs 1 sequential games require the least of "skill" (That is a loose term) to win. I say this because if you take a look at the players who primarily play them, they are easily around the 50% win ratio mark no matter their rank. Thus proving that a 1 vs 1 sequential game can go either way mostly because of the drop followed by the luckier player having fair dice and cards. It does NOT take a genius to win a 1 vs 1 sequential game. Most everyone could surely pound out the victory if given the better drop almost every time. Please don't fool yourself into thinking you are some amazing player and better than people with higher ranks because of the fickle map rank system. What a joke.

Another point that people are to hung up on is rank. Rank does not always determine how good a player is. It is ignorant to say that. I've crossed paths with corporals(that were never much higher) that have out played colonels. Rank is directly related to what type of games a person chooses to play and how successful they are at winning them. That sounds like a vague statement but follow me for a moment. If all a player plays is 1 vs 1's they are not going to rank up very far. If all a player plays is 8 man escalating games then if he/she wins 33% of them they will eventually be on the first page. If all a player plays is team games and they join a like minded unselfish group of players then they will certainly rank up if they get acclimated to each other and test their skills against higher ranks. What I'm getting at is if a player plays a multitude of game settings, wins, and maintains a high rank he is certainly a good player in my book. Not in the least over rated regardless of the average rank of his/her opponent.
