Wouldnt you be offensed if someone called the US, Canada or North Korean america or something hehe

"Germany" is synonymous with bothe the country and the German Area. It's like this on the Europe map too.

haven't read every post, so apologies if I'm being redundant. My thoughts...

1. Graphics stuff: lines between territories look to me like unpassable barriers, and all of the circles and stars get confusing. Maybe lose the army circles to clean things up?

2. If this is to be a realistic representation of nato, why is Greenland such a key territory? Apologies to any Greenlanders who may be out there, but it's neither a politically nor geographically important nation. I mean, Germany = 1 territory, Greenland = 2, and is a key attack route.

3. A lot of empty map space in the south - rather than adding a key to the bottom of the map, consider putting it in the dead space that is northern Africa. I hate playing on maps in which I can't see all of the countries while I'm attacking/fortifying.

4. There are several Europe maps either in play or in development - I'm afraid this map will just seem redundant.

Circles and stars are gone mostly. Will look into your greenland suggestion.

I can't even begin to comment...the pixelation hurts me too much.

try to obviously decrease the pixelation. Also make all territories in one continent the same colour for now (while we make comments of visuals) and add a textur to the continents. After that it will be easier for people to comment on all aspects of the map as they can see it more clearly.

Happysadfun is gone, I still really find potential in this map, thus I will work on the graphics, if that is acceptable. I pmed him a while ago hasn't read it don't know his email, but I"m quite sure he's gone.

First Draft:

Large--making a small will be hard as this large has MANY small territories.

Reverend_kyle

Below is the list of NATO members as at 25 Sep 2007.

Would you consider re-making this map with those countries showing.

Quite frankly, i don't see the point of the current draft. Why would Canada and USA - represented in the list below by one name - have several terts each. Doesn't make sense to me.

The map as it stands is also far from 'bump' stage. There are graphical issues all over; borders, white lines, right margin, and that large hephalump gray area called Africa.

Since NATO was developed from the Cold War (precursed by the Treaty of Brussels in 1948), with eventual links to the Anit-Ballistic Missiles Treaties between the USA and the Soviet Union from circa 1972, perhaps that would make a good theme for the map.

While some say it is not a good reference, have a good look at
here at NATO in Wiki; there is a plethera of information to make a really good map from.

Reverend_kyle....somewhere towards this direction, although now you have too much Russia and Turkey, and not enough USA and Canada.

Have you investigated a map that approaches this subject like the view from the north pole, or over greenland for instance.

And a tip...if i can....i'd start this map from the small version, because u have to fit the legend in somewhere, and all those terts plus the Atlantic.
I haver found it mich easier to propogate up ot the large version one the small is done.

terrible for the eyes this NATO map.
EDIT: that was the original map
And why do you include Puerto Rico..but not Hawaii ?
What are these small things doing in here anyway ?

Better drop this concept and make some sort of cold war scenario around the Atlantic. In which Nato is vying with Warschau Pact over control of sattelite nations in S-America (Juntas in Argentina,Chili, El Salvador... socialists in Cuba) and Africa (Angola, Namibia, Congo)..(so China, Vietnam, Asia, Pacific area is off the map).
Now THAT would be something more appealing.

Call it "Che's world revolution map".

EDIT: The latest map shows a Europe map with something americanCanadian dangling in the corner.
Naw,..that looks silly and not interesting.
Better follow my "Che's world revolution" map. Which isn't the whole world !

All the russia was intended for me to put the title and legend in the dead territory. I find it easier to start with the large so that I don't have to deal with resizing issues.
