was thinking of a map using the islands of Hawaii

it would be quite simple you could use all 8 islands or leave out the 2 smaller less inhabited ones

the number of terries on each island as well as the attack routes could be easily played with to suit the bonuses

The only problem with this is the small amount of territs but if you find a way go for it. it would be a popular map in my opinion but you would need to find a interesting way to connect the islands because if the connections are random it could hurt game play.

I was thinking each of the 6 ( or if desired include the 2 smaller ones as well ) islands would each be its own bonus region, upon each island the number of territories could be altered to suit the amount of bonus armies given to that region. Also being islands the attack routes to each island could be adjusted to suit the number of bonus armies ( the attacks could be named differently as well, i.e. ferry route, airplane flight plan, outrigger assault, marauding surfers, etc. etc.) The airplane attacks would also give wide versatility as they would be able to attack inland on certain bonus regions.

Also I was just putting an idea out there for someone who has the skills to create this, I am not included in this category, also my computer pretty much sucks ass, and would more than likely be crashed by the more sophisticated map making programs.

I like what you have going. The playful attitude of the water and flowers with the text is very appropriate. The bright colors are also just right. To contrast them more, you could make the water a dark shade of blue. You can lighten the blue continent so as to pull it off.

i am glad someone else was thinking hawaii too. how about adding surfers instead of or in addition to boats? also drawing in a volcano, maybe it could be its own territory.

How about two versions???

One with the big island like you are doing and then one map with the whole chain of islands? See Maui below for an example:
Maui - 3 territory island(Kahalui, Lahaina, and Upcountry?) Maybe make it a 5 territory island? Kahalui, Lahaina, Kehei, Upcountry, and Hana? Thats just for Maui... You can go all out when it comes to the other islands...


I donno. I love the Hawaiian islands, maybe even like mentioned before: Add planes and cruise-ships???

One big plane coming from the mainland gets a bonus of +1 added to it eachturn.

Then 3 cruise ships that are around all the islands, worth 2-3 bonus for holding them all.

Also, toss some fun additions to all the islands, again using Maui for example, Molokini and that Lanai'i, those two islands that are part of Maui.... If you hold Maui and those two, you get +1 bonus? Or maybe make them their own +1 bonus regardless of holding maui?


Make all islands attach in various ways(depending on bonuses) and maybe the 3 cruise ships connect islands but do not connect eachother???

Make the one plane coming from the mainland attach to a single territory(airport) on each island, maybe have 2 airports on the Big Island and Hawaii or whatever... For example, Kahalui on Maui holds the airport, which can attack and be attacked from the Plane.

Actually he posted this a bit before you did, check out the dates, MrB merged the threads

With all these routes you suggest between islands it sounds as if it will be easy to get around an already small map. I do like maps like that. Good for freestyle games and escalating games. I also suggest please please draw any map that is a REAL place, EXACTLY as is for the time and place. So I vote all 8 islands. Sounds like a great idea for a map.
