I am rebuilding the map in MAYA. It is a 3D modeling software program. It made for better perspective and realistic shadows. The background also is textured to give it a better look. I should have something by Monday night EST.
I am going to stay with the abstract. 1/2 of the people want that so at least 1/2 of the people will be happy. I had another idea for a ski lift resort map that I might work on after this. Then I will use realistic mountains.

Currently the bonuses are up in the air. What does everyone think.
Again based on the same method of calculating bonuses as the Underground map, the bonuses on the latest pic are what I have.

Can we not just forge and quench the two JPGs you already have?!

I like these different types of map, they enforce new gameplay & tactics, I have tried to make one myself...

maybe we can beg andy to final forge and quench it, I hope he doesn't go all mortal combat on my ass.....

I want to wait till I get the new map done. Like I said the photoshopt file was corrupt so I need to rebuild it just incase we adjust the bonuses. And since I am rebuilding it, I wanted to make it look better.

The bonuses are now up for debate. And I know I need to adjust the numbers a little in the circles.

can kings attack other kings? also, can the kings attack helipads? also, bonuses like you said are quite stupid, in my opinion it should be:

Red = 9
Green = 6
blue = 5
purple = 3
yellow = 2

tr, sq and ci stay at 2

could you make the mountain background/horizon thing where the name is a bit lower? right now it looks like it is kind of pushed to the side and doesnt really belong.

There is a big Circle with a H at the bottom of the picture explaining this

If I make it lower it is pushed under the shapes ans causes me to move around the Bonus text. Then moving thew bonus text down or making it smaller causes it to be harder to read on the small map.

Others think the bonuses are ok. I am going to get Andy to kill my current poll and have a bonus poll to decided what it should be.

I still would like to see some connections far from the bases of the "mountains". Arent connections allowed near the top?

If I counted correctly, there are 49 territories. Can I suggest remove some? I think the red mountain, for example, is useless with 13 territories.

It says, helipads can attack kings, kings can only attack down the mountain.

At the bottom of the map, you need more explanation.

if kings can't attack other kings, what is the point in the statement "kings can only attack down the mountain" since the kings are at the top.... (nothing above them too attack)

I think, if the kings can't attack other kings or helipads, it should read something like "kings can only attack adjacent countries, and can't attack helipads or other kings"

Overall I love the idea behind the map, think the asthetics are beautiful and agree with everything (bonuses maybe a little lower but they aren't too bad as it stands) And think it's basically ready to play.

That is the point. It is hard to be King of the mountains because once you are there you can only defend. Have you ever played King of the hill? Once on top you are at the mercy of all the others who are attacking.

... but I mean you need to make it clearer the attack routes that mountains have. I Immediately was confused. why not have

"Kings can only attack down the mountain! Kings cannot attack Helipads or other kings!"

also, I think controlling all kings should be a bit more than 6, maybe 7?
It would make the map revolve more around capturing the tops/helipads.
I would even go as far as to have:
controlling 3 kings = +3
4 kings +5
5 kings +7

but of course that is only my opinion and if that isn't what you want, it's upto you.

I think the maps add a lot more tactically and really like it!

there are so many more things to think about than capturing continents, as controling the helipads effectively means you have the power to attack any continent and remove anyones cont. bonus.

Feel free to debate about the bonuses. Many people have suggested that holding 2 Kings should be worth 2 and holding 3 worth 3 etc. I currently like the fact that holding all of the Kings makes you KING OF THE MOUNTAINS.

yellow hill should only be worth 2, purple should be worth 3 or max 4. Blue should be worth 5, though 6 is alright.

I dont mind the bonuses for some of the kings.

Bonuses are kind of high

Red should be 8, or maybe 9
Green should be 6
Blue should be 5
Yellow should be only 2
Purple should be 3 or 4

everything is looks fine.

I like the background, both the mountains, title, and the grass. Unfortunately...the continents...perhaps it's the color or the texture (or the lack there of) that seems to stick out a little much from the grass.

Look into playing around with meshing everything a little more.

It might be a bit late now, but it might be better to make King bonuses more accesible, ex

2 kings = +1 and +1 for each subsequent king so people have an interest in getting and holding kings.

with the large bonus, and the difficulty of getting them, its not worth trying to hold them, unless you almost have all 5, or you can stop someone from getting all 5

I wrote up some xml for what the continents would look like using an increasing bonus. If you want to implement it i can pm you the xml for the continents concerning the kings

Nothing about this? Are you assuming this configuration as final? Because the country dispersion is a bit strange: 3, 4, 4, 4 (no mountains), 5, 8, 9, 13. 3 big continents, and bordering each other... what a desert!Couldnt you at least reduce some territories? Like -1 for blue, -3 for red and -3 for green mountains.
