Speed Games + 2000

Postby jiminski on Tue Jun 09, 2009 2:43 pm

Hello,

Well i like a good mental game filled with randoms and packed with the possibility of deadbeats and suicide as much as the next man but perhaps we could have a place to set Private Speed games for 2000 points and above.

With the purpose of filling games with greater ease and under the assumption that all players on the list are of a high standard and not total fuckwits:
Please note that anyone who makes it onto the list, who was obviously 2,000 points plus at the time, may still join games if they are above the score of 1800.

- We have a standard password so PM me for it before you post a game here please
- Please also post Game as a link for our ease. (eg. Game 000000)

- So we can all know a game is available PM the following-

well that is a hell of a group of characters already!

Anyone can post any speedgame type they want and we will soon discover what games are played and which are not... we can even come here to discuss that and negotiate a little... i.e. someone sets up an 8 man Soviet Union Freestyle and 4 people say .. 'hey i would love a game but if only it were Sequential and make it a 5 man game!' or vice versa.

So, we can customise games to try to accommodate the majority or if there are enough of us i am sure we can play to every taste.

Anyway let's suck-it and see.

Sending Mails to the List:

It seems that one or two of our number are not certain as to how to send the gamelinks to the List.

*BCC means that we can send the mail to all but any replies are only to sender.

**Tip: If you copy the Mailing-list on the front page first, then post the gamelink in this thread, you can simply click the 'PM'(*) button on the post you just made, paste the names into the 'Find a Member' box and press BCC(**) to send the mail to all users on the list.

(*)PM button should be under your avatar

(**)BCC button is located below the 'Add' when you open a new mail.

cheers mate,

We need a few more to hope to get speed games together.

Anyone else interested?
Please post something here so we can perhaps have a Mailing list together.

I am not certain if we can have a usergroup due to people popping in and out of rank? (hah and certainly not if there are only 2 of us!)
But i just thought it could be nice if people popped in here, posted a game link or two and we could all be fairly certain of a promptly taken go game with people who play in the knowledge which usually comes from having played for a while. ... For example not taking my 10 stack in an esc. game, for the Australia bonus in the 12th round.
I love the freedom and indiosyncracies of public speed games but sometimes it's nice to have a psychological rest ;)

there was such a group called "Speedgamers" but i think this group doesn“t exist any more. If you want to recreate it, maybe make some advertising before so you can be sure this group can survive, i would try to get at least 50 active members, or it will end as an inactive group again (i think speedgamer group were about 30 or 40 people, maybe more, but it“s rare that 5+ more players have time simultaneously)

perhaps you write a message to the clan leaders and ask if there are interested players? If you contact the big clans, you will have several players who aren“t noobs, good base to start with.

yeap, I fear that this may not be possible either mate.

i don't think a usergroup is viable for 2000 points + (i guess it would help to organise mutually convenient times to be on though) but if there is enough interest here, a little mailing list might work.

I don't want to get too involved with organising this into a formal entity by contacting clans and what-not (probably a very good idea if anyone else wanted to do it though) I had just hoped that there may be some like-minded speed-gamers up for this ... maybe not.

hmm, maybe.. i think the camarederie and the quality opposition will go a long way to keeping this one adrift though. and remember: 'though the artifices of setting up speed games are many, a PM recruits just as suredly.'

timminz played a lot back in the day and hes almost always hovering around 2k, bung him on the list too!

i meant Seuls part about advertising and contacting the clans to post in forums etc (it really is a sensible idea)... At the moment i will see if the lazy route can work. I would rather it just grew here if possible from word of mouth. So if anyone is interested perhaps they could speak to others who may also be. Spread the words Speeders!

OK, on the mailing list so far:

DD
khaz
Blitz
Timz
jim
(May be able to add Kratos too)
(not sure if we can include Seul or not .. i may put him in there just in case)

we can almost have a game already ;)

i'm not reallllly up for Freestyle either but we just don't have to join those that people set-up here.
This all depends on availability (who's on-line at the time) and numbers but I am seeing a fairly make-it up as you go kind of an 'organisation'.
Anyone can post any speedgame type they want and we will soon discover what games are played and which are not... we can even come here to discuss that and negotiate a little... i.e. someone sets up an 8 man Soviet Union Freestyle and 7 people say .. We don't have to but i think it is easier if we quote new games with a gamelink and description.
Just so we can easily see if they want to play or not without doing a search.

eg:
Game 5053731
Classic - Sequential, 5 man, Esc, Chained and Foggy
