Just to confirm - I have handed over the keys to the BOB to Sherkaner - and he will be maintaining BOB going forward...

You won't notice any changes in the update mechanism as we have handled this for you.

Good luck Sherkaner - and thank you for helping out.

BTW - you can remove the Card Counting code now - the site does this for you now.

The script update is causing the drop down menu that allows you to jump to a different page on pages like the Join A Game page to not open. When you click on it, it takes you back to the top of the page. It worked properly when I turned off Greasemonkey, and this was the only script that I've updated.

It also appears that the new version is blocking access to Live Chat for some reason. Seems like you changed too many things.

Yeah, I kinda expected I changed too much, that's why I've tested it myself for a week.
I guess you know I don't use chat now, or that dropdown.. But it is fixed now.

For some reason "Map Opacity" effects the country army numbers now.

That wasn't the case before. Looks like z-order is off...

Is it possible to get version 4.7.3 somewhere?

All those changes to JQuery are giving to benefits, only problems...

Hmm, I think in this case it's better for me to fully understand the code and be able to adjust it in case future errors show up. And it definately needed some maintenance anyway. :D

What was wrong with that, that prompted the complete re-write?

Did you test the performance of that new script on some of the big maps (Conquer Man) and long lasting games with huge log(Game 1000001)?

I've not checked the new code - but suspect it's that there is no longer the additional Army numbers image used anymore...

This was the one reason I had to code that bit in!!

Naah, that's not it actually. I forgot that appending something results in the html being filled (and forgot that I made that adjustment, so I didn't check the consequences).
That's the kind of small bugs I expected, but it seems a bit larger now. Ah well, at least I have enough time these days.

Hi sherkaner!

I have a feature request for you :) When a game is finished and it's time to leave a rating it's generally hard to remember who was slow and who was quick, so why don't calculate average time of turn and display it near user names while playing?
For example: player1(1.23 hr), player2(7.4 hr), etc.
This way we can make sure what is the speed of playing for each player :)

I've implemented such a script using bash and general UNIX tools (awk, grep, etc.). If you are interested I can share the code, but I'm too busy now to implement it in GreaseMonkey and JavaScript setup which I'm not experienced at.

Hope you all like the idea!

Thank you!

With best regards,
Ivan.

Publiced 4.7.8 now, but the underlying problem isn't mine actually. It gives a warning on the right now if BOB can't do everything it should do because of the xml-file (so it doesn't stop any more).

For the longest time I've not been able to use Map Inspect because it causes major graphical issues to show up. The same problem occurs when BOB is first loading or when I bring up the help file on Clickable Maps.

Any idea what piece of code could be causing this problem? It seems to happen whenever something is overlayed on top of the background screen.

I don't know that this is something that's fixable by editing BOB, but if I could get some clues as to what piece of code is used, I might be able to fix it on my end. Of course, if it's something that fixable on the BOB end, that would be great as well. I very much miss Map Inspect and haven't been able to use it for more than a year now :(

WWII game XML error ?

Postby MarathonMax on Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:44 pm

Dear Bob ;)

Game # 5051158 doesn't work for me. I did the CTRL-F5 twice dance but to no avail. Other maps do work well :? .

Let us know.

I get "BOB: xml for this map is not correct, map inspect and text map are off" to the right side for the Peloponnesian War map, using 4.7.8

4 maps are not working properly atm, Peloponnesian War, europe 1914, wwII europe and Phillipines.
Those will get that warning. I can't fix the problem atm (the file/xml form the site containing the map data, like which counties can attack eachother, is faulty, which is also why clickable maps won't work for those maps).
But version 4.7.8 at least allows you to play, though it does give that warning.

Any chance we can get an "Auto-Gimp" button added?

By this I mean a button that will auto attack until either you hit 3 troops or the opponent has no more than 2 troops... this way you can get attacker's advantage without taking over the territory and not have to sit there hitting "Attack" over and over again... especially on City Mogul :)

I have my doubts that this is something that's easily and cleanly done, as it strikes me as something that would need to be hard coded into the site, but thought I'd start here with the suggestion since we all know it takes Lack at least 3 years to get any suggestions implemented on the site :D

Analyze Snapshot problems

Amen to that. I didn't see an answer to this question by the way.

Ever since 4.7.3, analyze snapshot hasn't been working properly.
In version 4.7.3 I could click on an old snapshot, and then click "analyze snapshot", and it would highlight all territories that changed in color or in number, so I could easily see what changed from that snapshot to present. Now analyze snapshot moves the screen to show the full map but does no highlighting.
This game was once fun, but the necessity to log in every day finally took its toll on me.

While I'm at it with making suggestions...

Any chance we can get a feature added into BOB that will point out any foes on the gamelists? Highlighting or changing the colour of their name... adding a small icon... I don't know. I can't count the number of times I've joined a game with some guy I've foed but forgot about, only to have the game ruined by him and find him on my foe list when I go to foe him again.

Mostly interested in this for the Game Finder screen, since it's what I use to find games awaiting players.

Thanks! :)
