I keep noticing these Avatars of Jesus...and most if not all portray him as white and quite Anglo saxon'ish.

Having been born in Bethlehem, and raised in the hood in Naz, it stands to reason that the pigment of his skin would be olive, or darker. His hair would most likely be black as well, I would think.

Anyone have any more realistic images of the man?

This probably isn't too far off. Isaiah 53, which Christians hold to be a prophesy of Jesus, says this: "There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him." Here's the whole passage, so you can decide if it applies to him or not:

1 Who has believed our message?
To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?
2 My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot,
like a root in dry ground.
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance,
nothing to attract us to him.
3 He was despised and rejected—
a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.
We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.
He was despised, and we did not care.

4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,

What you forget is that Jesus was the son of god. Not the son of some local arab and seeing as God is English it stands to reason he looks anglo saxon!

But anyway, the only avatar of Jesus I've seen is capt. crazy's and, well, you know. Yeah, those were old paintings; a lot of old paintings of Jesus show him blonde, which is preposterous. Not too many years ago the English-speaking world was a lot more racist and anglo-centric. Pictures drawn of him recently are usually more realistic.

Our image of Christ is actually based off of Da Vinci's portrayal..which was modeled after Cesare Borgia.
If you know anything about the Borgias, then you know how ironic this is..

Anyhow, he is described in Revelations:

14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. Initially, there were no paintings of Christ because he and his followers were poor and paintings were of the wealthy. Then the church went through a time when images, sometimes any image was considered to be an "icon" possibly an object of worship. Images of God and Christ, God's earthly aspect were all forbidden.

Then yes, the form of Christianity that allowed images appeared in Europe where folks were definitely racist.

But, they are not the only ones. Many Africans insist the Hebrews were black, though they really were not.

Actually, using the term racist (I know, I started it) is probably too harsh. Whenever people have tried to draw Jesus, they usually look at him through the lens of their own culture. Check out this link:

Everybody knows that Jesus was Chinese.

But, seriously I believe what most have already said that he was an average Hebrew. Nothing special about his physical apperance. You could also argue that if Jesus was the Son of God like over a billion people 'believe,' he could be all races at once. Just imagine Jesus as an Esikmo.
