"Why were you site-banned, tom?"

I'll just start by saying that if it was any other admin in the backroom, other than KingAchilles, this thread and whole situation will not have happened.

KingAchilles and I have an open dislike for each other and he clearly dislikes me more than I dislike him. It seems that working in the backroom and not talking with anyone has eroded away his common decency and his basic social skills.

At 00:39:00AM today, I was sent this email notifying me of my ban:
Hello t-o-m,

Your account has been issued a Website Ban. You can no longer play games, rate players, use the forum or private messages. If you had any Premium Membership it has been cancelled without refund.

Term of ban: permanent

Issued by: king achilles

Comment:

You were just removed from every clan you were in and you immediately got back to join them again. Take this indefinite vacation due to your persistence. Open an eTicket if you want to discuss this further.

Regards,
The Conquer Club

As you can see, the labeled reason(s) are for:
  • Joining usergroups

On its own this information seems a little retarded. Let me give it some background:
When I was forum banned, I realised that I was still in my usergroups and that I had access to view/post in Spamalot, so I did. Then that stopped for some reason.
Fairly recently - about 2-4 months ago, I managed to get access to another clan; Imperial Britain. This clan is made up from all of the buddies who I play games with so I would obviously want to talk to them - so I posted a little until that also stopped.
/background

Recently, while waiting for my speed games to fill up, I applied to a large chunk of clans on ** out of impatience for my games to fill, etc. I thought nothing of it. Who would? A few days later, I applied for some more clans, just out of curiosity to see who would accept me. (Let's face it. Most clans on ** now are noob and inactive ones)

So, this is as far as my knowledge goes as to my ban. Today, 23rd July, I logged onto ** and found no games in the My Games section and no access to live chat. After visiting other websites (inc. here) I saw that I had been banned - my first thought... lolwut??
I read the email above, read some forums, and send an e-ticket.

Their response to my ban and the reasons for it:
  • I had applied to clans with the intention of getting around my ban
  • I had disregarded my warning
  • Therefore, I deserve a permanent ban from ** and my premium revoked

As we all know, when you break a non-existent rule to do with the forums and ignore one warning which you're unable to receive, you're fully entitled to a website ban - especially if you have no previous infringements.

My counter arguments:
  • **, at least when I still had forums, made it clear that the forums, live chat, and the gaming side of things had NOTHING to do with each other, and never would. So why did I receive a website ban for a forum-side 'infringement'?
  • I clearly received no warning.

Why I know KA is bias against me:
  • Our history, see above ^
  • He sent me a warning via PM. He MUST have known that getting around a FORUM ban might imply that I actually had a FORUM BAN. Is that so hard to connect? And therefore I cannot receive PMs, yet he sent me a warning via there anyway. You might think, oh, it's just a little misunderstanding on his part... well, I have sent many e-tickets in my tmie and he has fully acknowledged the fact that I do not have the ability to read PMs.
  • No one goes from one warning to permanent ban. No one. Not even on the most corrupt site that exists.
  • Look at the language used in the email:
Take this indefinite vacation due to your persistence.

This is a little niggle at me. He couldn't resist getting one last jab - no professional would do this. And we've already covered his lack of social skills.

I'm sorry. I really wouldn't normally kick up much of a fuss and if I actually did something wrong then I'd just f*ck off back under the bridge... but no. Conquer Club, you've overstepped the mark on this one. This time, you've got nowhere to hide. The evidence is laid out in front of you and I am willing to accept an apology and move on, but this is unacceptable.

People who frequent a forum to talk about the specific mechanics of a Risk website are huge homers. No matter what reasoning you use they will never agree with you, and even if they can't win the argument they'll say "well, the site's about Risk anyways". This line of thought annoys a guy who hasn't played a single game since March.

I have to say I can only believe there was a bit more to this than has been posted. I reserve judgement, but it does seem inane that a warning would be considered "sent" via pm if someone cannot read pms.

On the other hand, I don't think our private emails are freely available... and I have no idea if t-o-m's information was updated with an active email even if it was available, so how else was the warning to have been issued?

Mostly, I think we need to remember that this is a casual, fun site. If you begin to have so much invested that you can no longer maintain decorum, are just getting angry all the time, then maybe it is time to go.

They do have access to our email addresses. You get them for bans, and you can see them from the ACP.

Thanks.

I do think there was a bit more to this, but ... I suspect both parties were at least partially at fault. But, if you get into a fight with a police officer, they do tend to win.

Sounds like a cut and dry case of statutory rape. Team Cc molested us all at one point in time, then has the nerve to think we are all too naive to speak up and won't band together. Personally I've had just about enough of these stories of grotesque groping and improper perversions. Isn't it odd how it always seems to lead back to an Admin? I heard a rumor that they were all Nazi pedophiles with nothing but immortal purposes. There sure are some weird people on this site that's one thing I'm sure of.

Anyway, sorry about your little butt Thomas.

A ban for such a petty offence like this is perverse. Surely there was more to it?

I'm almost hoping that's not the full story, but I feel it is... CC is renowned for things such as this. But this is the most extreme case of this I've ever seen.

And how did King even find out about him trying to join a bunch of usergroups? He would of had to be following t-o-m's activity pretty closely to figure that out...

"Hey, somebody tried to join my clan. I think I'll go PM the admin."

Doesn't sound plausible.

It would be if they knew he was already forum-banned and were wondering why he was trying to join their group in light of that.

Me too! The nerve of these people to think that cc can't take someone's money and then ban them for something ridiculous. I think they should start banning people for complaining . . . oh yeah . . . shit, they're already doing that? Well i guess it didn't work. But hey! I know whatchamean about it being odd that it always leads back to an admin (sorry, i just couldn't summon up enough sychophancy to capitalize that like you did) - how about all the other people banning members for stoopit reasons - yeah, how about them - we don't see anyone accusing them do we now?

Now what did you do to Thomas' butt? :-s
