Possibly start frequenting poa as well, but that's besides the point.

Let's see how many of us are leaving.

I "left" a month ago myself, came back, and I'm leaving again. This time for good (though I'll stick around on poa).

This thread is akin to announcing when you put someone on foe. It's

1) Hypocrite - you did that when you "put me on foe" after an idiot C&A post

2) No it isn't - it's intended to make evident just how many people are leaving CC because of what the mods have been doing.

I may well have, back in the day (I don't know, since you're not on my foe list at the moment, so I wouldn't know the answer as to why you were). I've since realized how utterly silly it looks. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm a hypocrite (I would be if I were currently or very recently doing that), rather it simply means I have changed in my view of it.

That's sort of what I'm afraid of, to be honest. I'm afraid that it's going to highlight exactly how miniscule that number is (because it is), thus ensuring the lack of action to help the forums that we're seeking.

Perhaps. I don't know that I'm so much of an attention whore as I am an overly-opinionated, wordy guy who likes to voice those opinions at pretty much every opportunity. Perhaps that's the same thing. <smile>

I guess I'm just not the type to give up. I'm sad to see that many are.

Perhaps the energy I put into it won't effect any changes, but I have the energy for it and I hold out hope that it might.

I don't think it's a time thing (I've been here for a year and a half, after all). I think it's that most of those who are the most frustrated by the recent turn of events are also the folks who put much more stock into the individuals who have been permanently forum-banned than I do.

To use a recent "for instance", Dancing Mustard. He could be VERY funny, but for my personal sense of humor, that was a fairly rare occurrence...I just didn't match up with his sense of humor very well and I actually found much of it to be of an insulting nature (not in a humorous way). I well recognize that's just my opinion, so I'm not saying he wasn't funny...just not to me. So, while I am very bothered by how he received his final forum ban (a ludicrous reason, in my opinion), that's what I'm personally "active on the issue" about...not really the fact that he is gone itself. It's just not a big deal to me. So maybe that's why I'm not as up in arms about the situation as some of the others are, because on top of what bothers me, they're also bothered by his absence.

All of the folks that I actually LOOK FORWARD TO interacting with are still around (minus those few who are now voluntarily absenting themselves in protest).

So because I'm not as frustrated as those individuals, perhaps I'm not as inclined to give up.

Truth be told, public announcements about giving up a habit does tend to be a strong lever in helping someone actually stay committed to breaking that habit (whatever it may be). Not from a grandstanding perspective, but rather from an "I don't want to embarrass myself" perspective. Of course, you have to tell people whose opinions matter to you, because if you don't, then you won't really care if they know you gave in or not.
