oh yeah i forgot to say what kind of music I hate: classical, modern rock, classical rock, and country

If i had to listen to country for an entire day I would kill myself

I also hate the fans of classic rock who hate metal

how would you define modern rock
Would you choose supremecy if it lead to isolation?

modern rock is basically the result of classical rock getting alternative rock drunk and accidentally knocking her up. now modern rock is popular and is kicking classical rock's ass, which for me is good and bad.
A more specific description would be having songs that are all similar: giving the mood of chilling out or hanging out or being okay. no real emotion. Red Hot Chili Pepper's newest album is the only example I can think of right now, although they are in my opinion the best modern rock band.

Erm... yeh I suppose. They're all pretty good. J5 are a bit cliche, you see lots of what American's call preppy kids reppin them, but they have put out some anthems. Blackalicious and Common both have skills. Who am I to ut things in boxes though... I suppose I just mean non-commercial. The whole underground thing is more related to the UK at the moment, the scene here is very very low profile. At least one person on CC has taste :D

Jehst is fucking quality mate, and so's Taskforce, Rodney P & the whole Low Life family. Junior Disprol, Ri Ra, Blaktrix & Humurak D Gritty are well worth checking out too. Stateside, I like J5, GURU, DITC and all the legends like Kool Keith, Public Enemy, early Wu Tang(Liquid Swords 8)) & De La Soul.

And that's just hip hop. I'm into all sorts of music, for me there's no such thing as a bad style, just bad examples of a style.

For those of you who don't like country, check out Johnny Cash or the Alabama 3.

Pop, Hip-hop, R&B, Rock, Alternative, a little emo(Imogen heap but that's about it), everything pretty much. Except like heavy metal it's a tad overwhemling.

Good stuff. Low Life are a great label, constantly pushing the coundaries and keepin it real. They put on some good shows at the Fav in Leeds. Had Herbaliser last week, Task Force a few weeks back...

You didn't mention Klashnekoff, but the LPs dropping soon and I can't wait. Its been a long wait but I really rate the Terra Firma stuff he's been putting out.

Also Johnny Cash is quality. The cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails should get a few of you metalheads into some good stuff.

On a folk / country tip check out Joe Strummer (RIP) and the Mescaleros - better than the Clash in my opinion. A true musical genius. RIP Joe.

Unfortunately, this is one Johnny Cash record that really does my head in. I'm big into NIN, and the original is by far and away the best version.

Some of the more hardcore sounds I'm into; Ministry, Pigface, Atari Teenage Riot, Foetus, Cubanate, Rage Against The Machine, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Lard, DJ's Shitmat and Scotch Egg and the mighty, mighty Aphex Twin.
