I actually like Titanics answer. Thumbs up for you bud!
I think the line drawn for me though is (A long and dead topic but oh well) Flame Wars.
Yes, Flame Wars.
Why get so butt hurt about a guy that called you a turd nugget when hes on the other side of the nation? The ignore button (or Foe) works wonders.
Who in the world complained about Flame Wars? Wheres all these liberal thoughts coming from? Is it an airborn virus? Or is it just human nature to complain?
Or it could be as Titanic said...Just young people being stupid. (Me being young myself, but come on...Grow a pair)

Is there a correlation between "liberal" and "don't like flame wars"?
I thought all sorts of people posted there.
The word "liberal" seems to mean , "anyone or anything I don't like" sometimes.
To me a liberal is a person who believes that his way/what he thinks is right and everything else is wrong, but he feels the great need to change shit to his way.
So when i say CC is Liberal, im talking about one person who complains about Flame Wars and others who think like him (Far and few between) somehow manage to get their way. CC is way too much of a people pleaser, its sort of sick...

Neoteny wrote:Sorry, guys, I have more faith in old people than to go with the old = conservative business.
If you look at polling, young people are more likely to support left parties and the old are more likely to support right parties, not just in the USA but pretty much in all liberal democracies.
DDS, you seeem to have seriosuly misunderstood the defintion of liberal. C'mon, carry on at this rate and Scotty will be adding you to his friends list.

This might be true, but I don't think it's the sole, or even the main, cause for the perceived slant in forum politics.
EDIT: Especially when, like I said earlier, polls here are often heavily weighted toward "conservative" positions. Either your statement about young people being online and liberal is wrong, or there are a lot of old people voting in the polls here on CC who just don't post.

It is MOST DEFINITELY NOT liberal. In fact, as much as 6 months ago, there was a very strong conservative bias where people where threads were being disproportionatly locked for expressing strongly liberal views. I did not believe then and do not believe this was necessarily intentional, but it did happen.
However, that has changed. The moderation is more even, more politicaly neutral. However, conservatives too often seem to think any expression opposing their views is just plain unacceptable. Most conservatives have fled the main forum and have gone elsewhere. There is still a conservative (and a liberal) contingent. The overall makeup swings back and forth, depening upon who is posting.
... I personally believe that internet forums and the like more a liberal method of communication than a conservative one.
... This ties into young vs old and percentages of each using the internet on a daily basis (or even having access to it). It also has a lot to do, imo, with younger folks being more likely to post, while mere "watchers" might read a thread, even vote, but not post.
... I could be dead wrong, but that's my general perception.

Awesome! "Make Up Your Own Definitions For Words" is my favourite game. My turn next.
To me, a liberal is a 5-legged midget that can hurl lightning bolts from his penis, and serves hot, liquid justice in a thermos.

I fully support this definition.

Even I think there's a bit more to it than that but your 'definition' applies to more than 90% of liberals out there.
Bravo!

i think that's kind of what jones meant.
It's very easy to slap labels on people - obama is a communist, gabonx is afascist, etc etc. Soon enough they lose their meaning. Most US voters are republicans and democrats; i know that's the names of the parties but it's funny how these word are tossed around as insults.

It applies to about 98% of the human race so nice to see you applauding the more liberal thought patterns
I agree with Player, and Neoteny.
There have been several polls that show that there are more conservatives here than Liberals. Seems that they don't post much though. But you can always throw up another poll.
One (related) thing that I always wondered about is the "is there a God Poll" was heavily pro-God. Yet the Godless Heathens and other random Atheists seem to rule this forum. Where are all the 10,000 members of the Jesus Freaks at?
