My guess a way to collect email addresses and sell your contact information.
They get money, you get an email address you no longer want to use.

lackattack wrote:Reddit is a reputable website and I'm pretty sure they're not selling your data. In fact, they don't even require an email address.
I updated the alert to mention that you need to register, to avoid any confusion...

Just tried it, still wants me to register, that's not gonna happen.clapper011 wrote:have you both tried it recently? As in the last few minutes? It worked for myself and others...

On the flip-side, there is no verification. So anyone can just log-out make up a new ID and psswd, and vote again. I think this is what's happening. There have been about 400 positive votes so far, and by remarkable coincidence there have been almost exactly the same amount of negative votes, so the overall is hovering around 35 (despite about 800 votes total). I think someone who's pissed about something is cancelling out the positive votes. What else explains 400 people taking the time to do this just to give a negative vote?
It is weird how negative people on this site can get. Despite any issues we may have, we're here because we want to be. No one is forcing us to come to CC. Why not help out when they do these recruitment things to bring in new players and keep the site strong?

Ah, you're probably right. Good to hear it's at least coming from somewhere else.hwhrhett wrote:ignatious wrote:The form asks for an ID and Password. There is an optional space for email (says Optional) which you can just leave blank.

if you read alot of the comments, alot of it is from reddit users that view the post, and the fact that there is a link on here as 'spamming' so i think some of the backlash at least is coming from reddit users.. not that there probably arent a good bit of bad apples from here doing some things....
