Rating Glich ?!

Postby LordMitch on Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:01 pm

Once a game is over you can leave all players ratings.
Sometimes someone develops anger during the game because
you win. Then later when you have forgotten about that particular game you see a sudden drop in your rating average.

But then it's to late to give that person the same rating back.

Can something be done about this, like a note or something when someone rates you , or always being able to rate people no mather how long it takes afther te game ?

please advice !

Thanks =D>

You can leave a short response to the rating that you received if you want to. That gives you the opportunity to defend yourself if you feel you have been unfairly rated. Also you can contact the person and ask them to withdraw the rating.

the reason that they have that is so there is no retaliatory rating people if some one rates you bad you can not rate them bad just for rating you bad. that is the point of this.

It would be a good point if it wasn't the case that it's being used to intentionally give people bad rating eventhough they have won ?

them withdrawing bad ratings is wishfull thinking, I think in this case the cure is worse then the sickness.

again, it sucks when this happens, but the rating system was designed to prevent revenge ratings.

it's not a glitch, you just proved that it works by stating you want the opportunity to leave retaliatory ratings for people that leave you poor ratings... thank you for showing us how the checks and balances work in this system... i still prefer feedback, but this is what we have to live with...-0

People like you are precisely why the system is set up the way it is. Retaliatory ratings like you want to give are a load of crap, frankly. Leave a response to their bad rating of you and then...suck it up, cupcake.

Look I agree with some of what you are saying , but the system does NOT work. Because the rating you can get
can already retaliatory for an already well played game. (Every one plays different.) If the system was good it would allow you every chance to rate an opponet at ANYTIME be it Good or Bad. Just kicking someone in the balls and being allowed to get away with it
can't be the principle of the system.

The game is all about attacking and being attacked, and then you want to implement the
turn-the-next-cheek in the postings. Kinda wierd.

But that's my opinion , I bet my voice won't chance anything , but I had to express my unhappines.

Now I'll suck it up. But I will use the system to my advantage..
In how many days can't you post no more ?

I believe you have 5 days. but if you enter the ratings immediately after the game you won't forget what the players were like.

Be honest with the ratings you give. There are those that give crap ratings to be vindictive and childish. Don't be one of them.

Now I must go find my foe button. Even though the ratings don't really mean anything it still pisses people off when others "use it to there advantage".

this is just not true, maybe you don't understand what retaliatory feedback is. to understand what it is, you need to know what retaliation is:
The Big Book Of Words wrote:re·tal·i·ate (r-tl-t)
v. re·tal·i·at·ed, re·tal·i·at·ing, re·tal·i·ates
v.intr.
To return like for like, especially evil for evil.
v.tr.
To pay back (an injury) in kind.

it is IMPOSSIBLE to leave "retaiatory ratings" soon after the game, since you are unable to see the ratings people have left you, until after a certain amount of time has passed. once this time has passed, your ratings for each other are revealed, and there is no chance for retaliation (unless you play later on down the road). your statement that you can leave retaliatory ratings "soon after" the game, is simply not true. you may leave A RATING, but it is not retaliatory for the rating they have left you, because you have not seen that rating yet. again, you are proof that this system works, because you are openly admitting to wanting to abuse it. i truly prefer feedback, but this is what we have, and this keeps people like you from abusing the system by handing out retaliatory feedback to those that don't rate you as you feel you should be rate... good day to you sir... i said, good day!-0

I do understand your concept, "Retaliatry ratings ".
But you don't see the big picture I fear.

To return like for like, especially evil for evil.

The ratings are directly connected with the game played agreed ?
The ratings one puts can already be a rating for evil done to someone in a game,
( you can not win without defeating someone ).
So the first rating can be a Retalialory rating = Evil behavior - Evil rating

it's a glich, a bending of the rules, a déja vu.

thanks for reading .

If you mean what I believe you mean by "use the system to your advantage", you will likely soon find yourself unable to rate other players and potentially unable to play the game at all. Just so you're aware.

Thanks for threatning me Woodruff , if you are a modderator that should not be
the way to intimidate paying members.. and if you are not , you dissmis the whole explanation I gave and you make an conclusion from a dictator-like kinda vieuw. The system has a BIG hole and you could at least try not to show your unsportmans like behavior
while I point it out.

If I can not express my disscontent here..

Just to let you know Mitch,

I understood your point from the first post.

To paraphrase Owen's dictionary - retaliation is something you do to get back at someone whom you feel wronged by.

So you beat someone. They retaliate with bad rating. You were asking what could be done.

Answer is nothing (except foe) - since many people would one star the person that one starred them etc... what a lot of people would term "retaliatory rating" and then the ratings would be pointless.
I don't think this should degenerate any more. Someone in the thread pointed it out earlier. Any cure would be worse than the sickness.
I don't think any improvement could be made else the mods would be caught up with this bs all day.

There is the C&A for serial ratings abusers. But it isn't generally considered too seriously by most opponents I think, save you have loads n "deadbeat" is by every rating.

I get your point, but I think it just happens to everyone and some people are just bad losers....
You prob get more good ratings than bad.

C'est la vie - though i'm not au fait with French phrases,

Nipper

Not even remotely a threat. It was, however, an effort at stopping you from earning the consequences the hard way. Sadly, some folks are determined to do exactly that, so enjoy it while you can.

"Expressing your discontent" is a far different thing than "using the system to your advantage", which was directly your statement. If you cannot reason the distinction between the two, then I cannot help you.

Nor was anything I said "unsportsmanlike behavior" in any way, shape or form.

The other holes in your statements are small enough that I'll just like the boulders roll through them.

I understand you want to stop me from doing something that would be considered bad, but just because I made a Topic about it here.
Fact is it is going on troughout the site everyday. So you speculating about me being banned is a serious threat I find since I am complaining about the same thing and you all tell me NOTHING can be done about it . So why would I be banned ? because I spoke out ?

No it's the same thing , I express my disscontent by claiming I would use the system..and believe me, I got no time or intention for that
because I love the game too much to even be giving good ratings.

Nor was anything I said "unsportsmanlike behavior" in any way, shape or form.

so must you understand I had to exagarrate to get attention about this. Because it seriously lowered my fun while playing .

You wouldn't be banned because you spoke out, nor have I EVER said anything remotely in that reference. I suggest you go back to my post and re-read it, so that perhaps you can come to fully understand the significance of the point I was making.

If you believe that "saying a thing" and "doing a thing" are the same, then I suggest that you spend more time in improving your education rather than in playing a game.

But you haven't really gotten anyone's attention but mine, and that is next to worthless. The fact of the matter is that what you are complaining about (and it is a valid complaint) is not going to change because, as someone else in the thread stated, "the cure is worse than the disease". Allowing retaliatory ratings simply would drive things into the ground. At this point, you DO have the ability to respond to the inaccurate rating and you should do so (and then foe the person, if that is your desire).
