Getting a suggestion noticed

Postby Grifter on Tue Oct 06, 2009 7:42 pm

What does it take to get a suggestion noticed? I posted it in the correct forum and it received 3 positive responses.

It is an example of a small change with a minor benefit. The suggestion was a minor text change to the instructions that would probably take 1 minute to complete. The benefit is for new members to CC to better understand how team games work. I got burned by this myself. Can someone take a second look - I even posted a suggested text. You can copy and paste it into the correct web page.

Tupence and Sully are currently working on ways to REVAMP the suggestions process. We recently started to organize and sort of the Suggestions forum.

For now, the best way to get your suggestion noticed is be active in your topic, responding to people's posts---with meaningful information that is. If you can explain why this suggestion will improve the website, and how it could be done (and if it isn't a massive overhaul or undertaking of something), and you in detail can explain the facets of your suggestion, the better.

I used the correct form in the suggestion. I checked on the post and read the responses. There didn't seem to be more that I could add to it. The benefit of updating the Instructions are self explanatory.

I expect that CC programmers are very busy. It is a good site with good game play. I got burned in a doubles game because the Instructions didn't properly explain how it works. Some of my other suggestions were more out in left field but this one seems to me to be beneficial with only a very minimal cost.

Sometimes good suggestions get missed if they don't have active supporters, so always make sure you have active supporters.

This is a case where long time members will not benefit from this suggestion and so they don't feel the need to support it. It is new members to CC that benefit. This has potential long term benefits since some of them will become paying members. Maybe an admin can take 2 minutes out of their busy day to improve the site for beginners.

Sometimes there may be little awareness due to A. it being low on the priority scale, or B. the current idea is too much to tackle in one update, and thus splitting suggestions into smaller chunks helps.

His idea is to slightly reword the instructions text and he even supplied the necessary wording...

But the topic is about getting any suggestion noticed, hence my general speaking. The issue has already been passed up to Lack. ;)
