some questions, not all of them important

Postby claire_tigre on Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:32 pm

possibly a silly question, but what is 'deadbeat'? it was mentioned in the faqs, and ive been trying to find out what it means... my husband and i only joined this to try to get better at playing risk (we have a friend who always beats us, even if its us against him)

also, because my husband is worried, is there any way to communicate to the mods that we are two different people, who sometimes use the same computer? he once logged out on the computer he uses so i could check something on my account, and got concerned we would get banned for multiple accounts.

A deadbeat is when you miss multiple turns in a game, and are eventually kicked out of the game for 3 consecutive missed turns. Some players will call you a deadbeat for missing multiple turns, even if you are not kicked out of the game.

As far as playing 2 accounts from the same computer, it would be best to let the multi-hunters know up front by sending them a PM or an e-ticket, and to stay far away from any activity that could be looked upon as cheating. For example, don't play against each other in multi-player standard games, unless you announce in the game chat that you are related. Team games are ok to play, as long as you play on the same team. I'm sure there are many other guidelines the hunters or other posters can fill you in on.

Deadbeats are members who miss three turns in a row and get kicked from the game. The mods can usually tell when two accounts are family members but to be safe you could send a PM to one of the Hunters.

I don't know if it's a requirement, but better safe than sorry. I'd also be careful that you don't show any favoritism/prejudice towards your spouse when playing in a non-team game. If you agree to a truce, put it in the game chat so everyone knows about it. Leaving a border unprotected or failing to attack him when you should will suggest collusion.

Yes, being free members that is a little tougher because you all can not create private games. It may be best to wait until off peak times but the only problem with that is that many people play this game from all around the world, so there is always people on. It is tough for freemies (free players) to get specific players in 1v1 games because a lot of freemies only play 1v1 since they only get 4 games because 1v1 games go by quicker and they can play more games. The only real suggestion I can think of is be quick and try to do it at what you think is an off peak time. Create the game and then have the other person log in very quickly to join it. If you go to join games, the games will appear in the order they were created in, so if you go to the very last page your game should be close to the last one if you just created it. Hope this helps.

what is your husbands user name? I need to fill out a form in the cheating/abuse section.....I kid. As long as your not playing each other you should be alright. I see alot of accounts daily that I figure for being multis but after looking at their history I believe them to be friends/relatives.

I think you should just make sure you are never in the same game unless you are dubs partners. Inform the mods anyway thru e-ticket
