The Use of Foe

Postby badgerbaytactica on Sat Nov 28, 2009 10:20 am

Can someone please explain the proper using of considering an opponent a foe? It amazes me when high ranking opponents are quick to foe someone to protect their score. To be a true conquer, it seems like you would be willing to take on anyone at anytime. Instead, many of the scoreboard leaders are cowards. Hell, one guy (Brann2006) complains everytime he loses, blames it on the dice, and foes his opponent.

To me, this appears to be an unacceptable use of the foe option. In otherwords, these guys are inflating their scores by consistently beating up on easy opponents and not playing those that are capable of beating them.

I don't know if it helps but this is how I use foe option:

I have 2 foes, permanent. They were very abusive & rude to me for no reason. Like: you hooker with your fucking shit dice!!!! I hate you!!!
I don't know if this is against the rules, but I just foed those 2 in 2 years time. Only 2 foes is ok I think, and I come here on cc to play a nice game. If my dice are better or I play better I don't like to be called a hooker or so. Let's be nice to each other.

Furthermore I have sometimes "temp foes". Like Inyaface & Ninjachampion joined as team a lot of games against me & my steady teammate in a certain game. I just liked to see some other teams against me & not the same persons all the time. By foeing them with open games they could not join my games for a while. I removed those players as foe after a while, cause I love to see them, they are great players & nice. Nothing personal but just liked to see some other players in those games. So I just foed them for 1 week. until my games were filled.

I know other players foe people cause of ranking, skills etc. But I think that is no reason to foe some one. If you are on cc, respect better players, learn from them & try to win ;-)

just my idea.

I tend to foe a lot of folks and I think a lot of people foe me. I'm opinionated and outspoken and I can't stand stupid players. Usually in games with more than 2 players, there are quite a few players that will demonstrate poor strats.

1. "Allying" with dominant players. How is this a winning strategy in standard, non-terminator games?
2. Turtling when there are dominant players. Again... if you want others to do your dirty work, that will only take you so far.
3. Constantly attacking an opponent when there are dominant players on the board. What the hell? So you both get weaker while the other guy gets stronger?
4. Breaking a bonus of mine when you are clearly going to lose. Ok... this one is a bit selfish but people please listen! Don't break my bonuses if you are on the way out. Break my opponents' bonuses. Thanks!
5. People that juggle multiple Real Time games and make the rest of the board wait nearly the full 5 minutes. Grow up.
6. Complaining that I am taking advantage of your moves in another Real Time game. Yeah... you play multiples and make me wait, then I'm going to watch your other game and I'm going to burn you alive while your attention is elsewhere.
7. Complaining about taking advantage of Freestyle in 1 v 1 games. There are a lot of players that live by some code of honor. Does anyone think that real war is won by codes of honor? Read Sun Tzu people - one of history's most respected generals. (If you want to play real time freestyle then do so... 1v1 standard game freestyle - all bets are off)

I cannot stand any of the above and I will tell people. If they cannot get it then my blood starts to boil  and before too long... someone is getting foe'd. Me, them or both!

Some of the above is tongue in cheek but most of it is spot on.
