What are you talking about? Wouldn't you rather see a band like RATM get the no.1 as a giant 'f*ck you' to the commercialised music industry... or are you just another mindless drone voting for a crappy X factor song. Capitalists like Simon Cowell have dominated the charts for years, let the people speak!khazalid wrote:more like 'f*ck you ma i won't do my laundry'

FAIL!

So who set this campaign up? RATM's management?nagerous wrote:http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Showbiz-News/X-Factor-Could-Be-Beaten-To-Christmas-Number-One-By-Anti-Simon-Cowell-Facebook-Campaign/Article/200912115491121?lpos=Showbiz_News_Second_UK_News_Article_Teaser_Region_0&lid=ARTICLE_15491121_X_Factor_Could_Be_Beaten_To_Christmas_Number_One_By_Anti-Simon_Cowell_Facebook_Campaign
RaTm certainly did not set this up, this was an idea of one individual who decided to make a facebook group and get all his friends to join and word rapidly spread around the country. I get what you saying about it potentially being a hollow victory, but I think you're being un-necessarily negative. You don't know the state of the commercialisation of the music industry by moguls like Cowell who churn out tune after tune of monotony of not real music to add to his expanisve riches. Artists like Chico and 'Jedward' who produce utter pieces of crap music and gain success from it through the monopolisation of chart radio. This is the British people's response to such domination, a song which chants 'f*ck you I won't do what you tell me.' I'm surprised this has received that much criticism here, as I think this is an awesome campaign, one that I fully endorse anyway.radiojake wrote:So who set this campaign up? I just don't understand the point of it. #1 on the chart has never been music I've associated with, it's always been bought.. either by commercial radio stations flogging a song and telling all the mindless sheep who listen that this song is a 'monster hit' or by crappy Idol/Xfactor type shows.
This campaign seems counterproductive...
I like my music fast, loud and completely underground... who gives a shit what the #1 song is? There hasn't been a good #1 song for so fucking long that the whole system is a joke.. and mass purchasing a song on ITUNES*TRADEMARK APPLE INC is hardly the way to make a stand against music capitalism...

You should contact the respective parties with that idea and go make a mint.Pedronicus wrote:just wait untll cliff takes the away in a manger tune, sings robbie williams's angel over it and gets terry wogan to flog it to death in the morning before he retires.
no one could stop that juggernaut

Cliff Richard is a bible bashing, shit stabbing, cunt and I hope he looses his tongue in a farmyard threshing machine. I'd rather die poor and happy, rather than listen to any more of his poxy records.nagerous wrote:You should contact the respective parties with that idea and go make a mint.Pedronicus wrote:just wait untll cliff takes the away in a manger tune, sings robbie williams's angel over it and gets terry wogan to flog it to death in the morning before he retires.

Or you could take the "f*ck you capitalist pigs" route and just download it illegally...Timminz wrote:This appears to be a Brit-centric event. Would my buying it, in Canada, affect the desired chart? Also, would buying the whole album count? I seem to have lost my copy.
Believe me, normally I would. Especially seeing as I've already paid for the album once. A month or so, ago I picked up an iTunes gift card, with the intention of using it to purchase apps for my iPhone. Then I discovered that you cannot use gift cards to purchase software (at least in Canada). So, my money is already spent, and there is nothing on iTunes that I can't get for free easily, so I figure this would be as good a use as any.BigBallinStalin wrote:Or you could take the "f*ck you capitalist pigs" route and just download it illegally...Timminz wrote:This appears to be a Brit-centric event. Ironically that is the only reason I am doing it too as my work gifted me a £25 itunes voucher as a leaving present, which I haven't fully spent yet.Timminz wrote:Believe me, normally I would.
