Partly because of that they are seen as much stronger conference this time out, but may not match last year's performance. The SEC had a strong showing too with the exception of Alabama getting absolutely schooled by Utah. Last time Michigan went bowling they whupped Florida (41-35) which was kind of forgotten when Ohio State dropped it's second consecutive title game against an SEC team (LSU 38-24)... then of course last year they failed to stop McCoy/Shipley who connected for a TD in the final seconds and the Longhorns escaped 24-21. The Buckeyes are 5-3 in bowl games this century, so I'm not going to lose any sleep because of their recent lack of bowl game success.
I just want to see some great football games and am very hopeful that some of these match ups will provide just that. It was disappointing (yet not a big surprise) to see TCU get jumped by Cincinnati in the final BCS poll but their Fiesta Bowl meeting with Boise State is not a consolation prize. Both of these teams are unbeaten, have been high ranked all year and when they met in last year's Poinsettia Bowl the Frogs pulled off the upset of the favored Broncos. This time their roles are reversed and they will have the spot light of football world all to themselves the evening of January 4th.

I agree about Virginia Tech, but I think LSU will actually pound on Penn State. I'm not sure why...just a feeling.

This could be a fun game.strike wolf wrote:Teams with most to prove: I think this actually goesto Alabama Texas for both national bragging rights and the bragging rights of their conference. I would have gone with Boise and TCU if they hadn't been paired with ech other.
Um...except you went with Alabama/Texas and THEY are paired with each other...

Of course had Texas not pulled a Bama with a final drive to score and beat Nebraska for the Big 12 Championship that perceived slight would have been even worse with Cincy matched up against the Crimson Tide for the BCS National Championship.
I knew what Strikewolf meant in referring to Alabama/Texas playing for bragging rights and know he has always been behind Alabama to win it all. The SEC, the Gators and the Longhorns.
