Looking at a friend's account

Postby Fascisti on Fri Feb 05, 2010 12:48 am

I just got one of my best friends playing CC about a week ago [He decided to go premium today]. We talk a lot about the games over the phone and I've been giving advice to get him into the swing of things.

He's playing a solo fog of war game right now that he's very proud of and wants me to see it. Can I log in as him to view the game? Purely as a spectator, I wont be playing for him or anything of that sort.

Why not? How would it be any different than you account sitting for him?

I agree with 72o. Obviously this is assuming you are not in any of those games in question, because then you would have extra information as to whether or not he had a set. One of my best friends plays too and when we're hanging out we frequently pull up our games and talk about strategy and what not. So I don't see why this would be an issue at all.

You're not allowed to account sit unless you're friend is in danger of missing turns, so it would technically be against the rules. If you hadn't posted this, I'm sure that no one would have noticed if you logged in as your friend, and everything would be fine, but, since you did post this, the mods might check to see if you logged in as your friend (or they might not, who knows.)

Well you can say what you want...but obviously there will be a record of you and he logged into his account at the same time...technically it would break rules, but if you didnt make moves, I doubt highly youd be anything but warned not to do it again.

Really there should be nothing wrong with it..however, others would take advantage of such a situation, so it cant be allowed that easily, even if in this case it seems truly benign. In others, it would allow actual babysitter abuse to happen more easily.
Though again...the one making the moves would probably be obvious...

short easy answer though....I wouldnt do it.
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk

not to be rude to all the above posters. But what i get from your post is that you just want to have a looks see at his fog games, but you dont actually take his turns. Now i would advice against it, but there is an alternative. have him sent you a screenshot before and after his turns. that helps with the viewing and the discussions on the phone. Alternativly play doubles with him in fog games, and you can see the game real time by yourself without breaking rules.

screenshot. open word. open the CC game. press [ctrl] [print screen] while on the cc page /game. goto the word page, press [ctrl] [v] and presto! safe and send by email as an attachment.
