Wait Idea:

how about there is a garage in every residential are which can attack all others and you get a bonus for holding all of them
‹max is gr8› so you're a tee-total healthy-eating sex-addict?

Well with 2/3 yes I'm going to keep working on this. I prefer the bus stops to garages, but the basic idea will be the same as what you were suggesting.

I also have the water for reason, I would like some houses to have 'docks' that all attack eachother. One space will have a dock and a bus stop so you can't own one set if someone else has the other. (There is some of that on the space map and I like the conflict that generates.)

I'll be adding more cross walks in places where it makes sense to have them.

My questions:

What colors do people like?
Do the current ones work?
Does the current continent set up work?
Should I go ahead and get some names out on the map right now to help people comment on where I should do things?
What kind of texturing
(if any, some maps don't have it) should I do?
For texturing, would it be a bad idea for me to watermark some houses into the spaces?
Do you all insist on army circles?
(I'd rather have sqaures, they center much nicer. I could show some examples if you want, lack would like a map with something other then circles I think. I could show a bunch of ideas with centered numbers in them at some point and put it to a vote perhaps.)

Thanks!

I think the dock idea is kind of silly. Neighbourhoods just dont have docks. Which is probably why a town or city would work better than this.

You should tone the colours down. (Im sure you would have done this anyway.)
brown is a bad colour. Not sure if it will work. You can use colours twice if they are diffent shades.

Something different from army circles is a good idea. Circles dont suit all maps.
Not sure the house watermark is a good idea, maybe just use normal textures. You could make the army shadows house shaped.

To be honest, Im not sure the shape of your neighbourhood is that great. reworking it a bit might help. You could also add a park or something.

I think the idea is good, but needs a lot of work.

What program are you using?

(Please don't take offense to my disagreements)

Actually I live in a neighboorhood where people nearby on the lake have docks (albiet it is just really a small wooden platform that shoots out enough to have a boat on), but I digress.

I don't know what you mean by tone down, make lighter or darker?

I've seen brown on many maps.
    Africa is Brown on Classic.
    Congo is Brown for Africa
    Library is Brown in CCU
Voodoo Bayou is brown in USApocalypse
Scotland is Brown in British Isles
There are two that are kinda Brown in Germany
Middle Earth and Montreal have brown too but I'm tired of looking at this point..
Anyway I think brown being bad is more of a matter of personal preference, but you may be right. I'm probably going to have a lot of one day votes to decide most of the color issues.

If anyone has colors they really like and know the Hex codes for you could give them to me and I could show you how it would look on parts of the map.

The neighboorhood was really drawn on a neighboorhood map I found (that didn't have a copyright, I checked), so while I probably could rework the shape it would take me a while because, frankly, I lack artistic tallent.

I did everything in paint (LOL I know), I was going to switch to photoshop once a lot of the basic things were right, I just find paint really easy for a base.

No offence, but if you lack artistic talent maybe you should get someone else who knows what they are doing to help you. Im sure it would get the map going quicker.

When I say tone down the colours I mean make them a bit lighter and maybe not so bright with some of them. So as an example maybe have a pale blue instead of the blue you have. I dont know, but maybe paint is a bit restrictive with colours and it is something you will be able to play around with in photoshop.

Ugh, you make me sad, that map is so ugly. I'll do better. I'm sorry!

Oh, and I got it more pale. That would be nicer you are right, I think my next step though will need to be getting names out and some different texturing ideas I had (in addition to more pale like you suggest)

Update for Teya (Is This Toned Down?):

Image

Changes: Merged some of the territories together. 'Toned' down the colors.

Sorry for the double post. (Please don't kill me!) I just realized that editing my last post from vacation to an update won't get it high enough in the map foundry list for anyone to notice. :P

yeah, it is.
When you get it into photoshop you'll be able to muck around with the colours and textures and it will start looking much better. There isnt much you can really do from paint.

I think the colours definantly look better toned down. Its not so hard on the eyes.

something I just thought of, is that the current territories you have are going to be too small for shadows and names. You have alot of unused space in the water and surrounding streets that could be used to make the playing area bigger. But that is something you can think about when you start in photoshop.
