I played quite a bit on asobrain a couple years ago (under the u/n Jdbrown). The forums over there are not anywhere close to as active as these are. The games are enjoyable, and it's a pretty well-run site. But I have to agree with those that point out the community atmosphere over here. At asobrain, my opponents were just random names that I never connected to anything. Over here I can sit and argue politics/philosophy/religion/mathematics/etc... with people, much like I might over a couple of beers if we went to a pub after competing against each other in some sporting event. Honestly, it makes for a much better site in the long run.
I'm still not quite sure I understand your complaints about the Monkey Business forum. Can't you just ignore it? If I'm in a bad mood and don't care to see what the latest nonsense is over there, I just ignore it and go about taking my turns. I think all the politics and religion is pretty well confined to that one forum, so it's really easy to avoid.
Your petition might get a bit more traction if you were complaining that it was too difficult to avoid because you wanted to play the forum and mafia games and that you couldn't avoid seeing the latest topic for that forum, which you sometimes found to be offensive. You still probably wouldn't have that many people agree with you, but it would give you a more sound argument and would lend itself to some reasonable proposals:
1) Move the two games subforums out of Monkey Business.
2) Shift the Monkey Business forum out of the general category and in to an off-topic category.
3) Make the off-topic category hide able.
4) ... or remove the "Last Post" listing from the Monkey Business forum.
(NOTE: I'm not endorsing any of these. I'm just offering
Rainbow Eater a better approach to this suggestion.)
