Anyways that choice one (kinda sucked for your great grandparents but works great for you)
choice 2. You wake up to day age 15 just like thousands of black nigerians have before you. You groan as you realize according to most charts and surveys you only have 2 years left to live(life expectancy is on 17) but then you groan again as you realize you might not even make the life expectance rate because your starving to death...but then you remember that you might not have to endure starving to death because all the religious and sectarian violence has been moving closer to your village everyday...anyways while you sit all day in the blistering sun you contemplate a story you once heard about how your great great uncle was kidnapped and taken to a far off country across the sea...you wonder what that would be like...then a cobra bites you...

I don't think the life expectancy in Nigeria is 17. According to cia.gov Nigeria's life expectancy in 2009 was 46.94. Are you saying that in actual fact that slavery was beneficial to Africans? Slavery took away many of the best workers in Africa. I'm sure colonialism and more recent neo-colonialism have had a huge part to play as well.

True, yes, but in no way justification for the horrible act. And as for reparations, it is not because of slavery that we have affirmative action, it is because of years of direct and harmful discrimination.
That anyone would think it sensible to pose such a question is, ironically enough, testament to the effecacy of the policy. Only 40 years ago, children everywhere were still subject to segregated schools, people of any color could not sit down to eat at many dinersin the south, or ride up fron on the buses... Men and women everywhere knew they could work hard and be far better than anyone else and yet still get only the most menial of jobs.
Now, we actually have a discussion about whether it is time to do away with affirmative action. Let's not turn back the clock by fearmongering.
