Well.. you need more territories, less bottlenecks. Perhaps some sea routes between "A" and "C" islands.

And since this is based on a real country, you should use real place names as territory names.

I can do the territories and bottleneck problems easily, but I do not know the territory divisions of Hawaii. It would be rather hard to get it perfect. would it be OK if i just used the names and not the territ sizes/locations?

Just google for real maps of hawaii, you should get all the information you need. Or if that fails, go to your local library.

Sometimes you need to do some research for your map.

Change sometimes to ALL the time. Hawaii is a unique area as a modern map. Please think about adding in the volcanoes of the Big island. After-all Hawaii is the most tectonically active region on Earth!

Take a look too at the this guide that used the Big island of Hawaii as an example to help you out.

Another interesting ascpect you might think about trying is that in the past Hawaii was a kingdom.

A historical map might be be an interesting twist for Hawaii.

sadly, I have been doing this all with powerpoint, as I do not have anything that can do what you are doing. it took FOREVER just to draw each stupid line with powerpoint... Photoshop is expensive to download anyway. And btw, mac powerpoint STINKS! It was reallly hard just to figure out how to draw a stupid line, and even now it takes forever to draw it. If anyone has gimp or photoshop and would like to do some graphics, then I would be very glad to do so. If this pulls through, then your name is DEFINETLY on the map. Thanks everyone!

Hi I live in Hawaii and I'd love to help out. I was thinking about what a great map this could be.

One easy division would be counties. There's four: Kauai (including Niihau), Honolulu (just Oahu), Maui County (Maui, Molokai and Lanai) and Hawaii county (just the Big Island).

One thing I was thinking about was making an older map, like before Kamehameha conquered the islands. They had a much different land distribution model back then. They divided the islands into mokus which were ruled by local chiefs. See:

If we made bonuses for each island, based on controlling all the mokus, we'd distribute based on size. Like Kahoolawe should only get a bonus of one, if any, or maybe you have to hold that to get another bonus.

You know... its funny that this should resurface again as I've been researching a Hawaiian map based on the unification of Hawaii under Kamehameha. But it's taking some outside reading and I'm halfway through a book now on the subject. I'd have to wait until South Africa was done though... so maybe a few months.

Right on. I've been studying Hawaiian history lately and I think the strategy inherent in conquering the islands, especially with the introduction of a few choice cannon and huge warships. I went to the Hawaiian collection today to check out the maps (UH) and I think they have some good base designs.

Yeah I agree with the main point's most of the people have been making. You need to find out the territorial names and make more connections to the islands in the west. Right now 3 bonuses are defend able from 1 point.

awesome natty dread, thanks for that link. i just got gimp.. used photoshop before but lost it with my old computer. there's alot of good resources on this site.

it looks like the hawaii map that guy was making was put on hold or something, and very localized to the big island so i'll make a draft of my idea and see hwat you all think

you should add some launching points, and outriggers to travel between the islands as a way to add more territories. the active volcano idea could incorporate some of the dust bowl ideas too.

Before I found Conquer Club, I flipped my risk board over and made my own Hawaii map. I'm going to try to post a .jpeg of it here

not sure why my last post was sideways.
here is a closeup of Big Island (Hawaii) and Oahu. Note that the outrigger canoe symbols were for hamakua (territores) with natural or historical ports.

In one style of play, all canoe territories can attack each other. The other version we played was that canoes were only able to attack Kaho'olawe, which has some historical significance as the sea navigation island. Kaho'olawe is then pretty crucial to hold.

I'll check this thread more to see if there is action on this, I would love to help out and get my name on a Hawaii map. I also know a lot about Hawaii from living there and would love to help create a more historical, conquering via Kamehameha style map. I think there are endless possibilities for fun Hawaii maps, but I am biased :-)

Very Awesome!! I'm totally impressed =D> I think this idea had a lot of potential, and when I look at your map I can see that potential energy transforming into Kinetic Energy right before my eyes!

Just let me, or one of the mods know if you need any help navigating the foundry process ;)
(I'm a noob to this but I kinda get what's going on)
