Billy, obviously people from south shields take drugs to try and forget how shit south shields is. I'm surprised you weren't injecting speedballs into your eyelids, frankly. Anyway - to recap - you had some great times on drugs, but some other people didn't. Thank you for your insight! Another sterling contribution! =D>
why oh why do people come out with this "thanks for following me around" shit? they quote me numerous times and i reply. then i quote them and i'm following them about!

my contribution was aimed towards the younger readers, i have kids now and wouldn't want them taking drugs. hence, me giving a couple of examples of the things i did when i was younger.

people of your age (you're certainly not 56) that come onto the net and promote recreational drug use make me sick. obviously your life is that sad that you crave the attention you lack in rl and want to be seen as a cool with it type of guy. i am a man, to me you're still a little boy. it's really quite embarrassing!

I mean, it's fucking awesome that you drink solidly for six weeks. That is SO cool!! What an example to set to young kids, especially your own. Children - always pay attention to uncle billy, especially his threads promoting recreational drug use.

And ignore heavycola - all he does is post links to articles in newspapers. What a saddo!!!! I bet he's never even drank soldily for one week, let alone six!!!!

Um, what's this 'can' business? To my knowledge, no-one's ever overdosed on marijuana. Hell, I'm pretty sure that it hasn't killed anyone, ever. And I mean that as in directly. Tobacco and alcohol definitely kill people.

Boo fucking hoo. I'm sorry it got to you so much you felt compelled to post here about how awesome binge-drinking is. Didn't seem to be upsetting you too much at the time, did it?
My quoting your post holds every weight, and once again you have shown yourself to be a massive hypocrite. Weighing in here with your fake gobshite morality, accusing me of 'promoting recreational drug use' by linking to an article, while your actual promotion of recreational drug use (of a far more dangerous drug than weed or e) was, of course, only because you were having a tough time. You thought you were the dogs bollocks when you made that post. I for one was really, really impressed, too. I wish i could drink and shag sluts that much.

natty_dread wrote:You are embarassing, billy.

But in fact I agree with you in one respect: kids shouldn't take drugs. Kids shouldn't take alcohol or tobacco either, some would go so far as to say kids shouldn't drink coffee (I wouldn't though, reasonable coffee usage never hurt anyone.)

But f*ck if you're stupid enough to think that you can scare them into not doing drugs with your make-believe stories about riding a motorcycle without a helmet while fucking some bearded lady, then you're really stupider than I thought. These scare-tactics have been used since the 60:s, they didn't work then or any other decade, they are not going to work today either.

If you want people to be responsible about recreational drugs (including alcohol) you need to educate them and give them correct information, so they can make informed choices. Trying to "scare the kids straight", all this "just say no" bullshit, is not going to work, and the sooner people realize that the better. Harm reduction is the future.

you have the nerve to say i'm embarrassing!

like most the little kids here you have picked out only the bits of my post that you want. i admitted that i had some good times whilst high and that i felt like the world was mine to play with. is that scare tactics you fucking mongoloid? now f*ck off back to your cubicle you naive little cunt.

Are you really this much of a simpleton? Did you read the link i posted?
quick summary: new research has shown that therapeutic use of ketamine and MDMA can help alleviate depression, OCD and schizophrenia. The title of the thread, while obviously tongue in cheek, is a reference to that research.

What was your post about? How much you drank and how many sluts you shagged. So do try not to point fingers, billy. You might drop your pint.

come on now, you know why you wrote the title. even in this thread you have positively promoted the use of drugs.

when was this "therapuetic" research done? it sounds like something they did in the late 50's. i assume from what i've read that these drugs can also bring on or escalate all of the ailments you have mentioned.

I ask because back in high school I played football with this guy who was about 5'4" with very short legs. The rumor was the guy used to smoke weed when he was 13, 14, 15 years old and that's why he was a veritable midget. The pot stunted his growth.

I also punched him in the face during practice (and by "face" I mean "helmet") because he clipped me. I hated that stunted little bastard.

Anyway...
I have read a lot on this, but never heard that pots stunts physical growth. I don't think this has been proven, and doubt it is a serious issue.

I am sure it has some effect... everything you ingest in your body during puberty will have some effect. I just don't think it's a big effect, and I can't see how a study (on humans) would be able to isolate this factor.

That said... there is strong evidence that pot use by younger people does effect brain growth. I think pot is generally harmless in small quantities, and even in larger volumes is fairly harmless for adults. Larger volumes on young people is bad.

 Oh man, this is priceless.

You're really an even bigger fuckwit than I thought.

First you try to impress people with your made-up stories of your drug use. Then you throw in "I grew up in a bad neighbourhood so I know what I'm talking about" stuff, and top it off with a "you live in finland so you don't know what I'm talking about" bullshit, and the cream of the cream is where you try to justify your ignorance with bullshit statistics.

Bra-vo. =D> I mean, I've rarely seen such a brilliant example of stupidity.

I used to have friends who started using drugs, and they didn't do it very responsibly. There was nobody giving them proper information thanks to fuckwits like you who believe in using "scare tactics" to get kids off the drugs, nobody telling them how to stay safe, and now almost all of them are dead by drug overdoses. They were good guys too, they just had problems in their life.

Now kids are drinking that Red Bull stuff like crazy.

That's a drug too that kids shouldn't have access to.

There are two reasons why kids shouldn't have access to 'drugs' that are fine for adults.
(When I say fine for adults I assume in moderation.)

1) Brain development... the brain develops all through puberty, even into early adulthood. One the one hand I think if your 18 and can go fight for your country you should have all the rights of an adult... on the other they say brain development occurs into the early 20's. That said... you can't argue against the fact that brain development is effected by drugs in a negative way, and that all through puberty at least till 16/17 these drugs can be bad for brain development.

2) Impulse control... kids are not good about doing or taking things in moderation. Some adults are not good a this either... but statistically at 12/13/14 young people won't stop doing things that "feel good" and think about long term consequences.

Now... once your 21 I see no problem with all kinds of drugs.
Coffee and other stimulants like Red Bull
Alcohol
Tobacco
Pot
Cocaine
Shrooms
Acid
Pesription Pills... muscle relaxers and the like

It may be OK to take other 'harder' drugs in moderation too... I don't know.

I would say that I know it's OK to take the afformentioned drugs in moderation based on personal experience... but I won't say that.

Final comment... as an adult YOU are responsible for controlling your behavior and limiting your intake of said drugs. If you can't do that it's YOUR problem. I don't want it to be mine. If you hurt yourself... fuckin' I don't care. If you hurt someone else you should be punished appropriately and the RIGHT to do these drugs should be taken from you.

That is fine.

Now define "drugs".

Is alcohol OK... is it ok to say yes to alcohol but you must say no to pot?

What about red bull?

What about tobacco? That kills more people per year than pot... that's a statistic no one will argue with. If pot should be illegal... why should tobacco be legal?

That's good for you personally, but not all people are going to abstain from recreational drug use just because you "set an example" for them.

So what means would you recommend for reducing the harm to society from drug use (including tobacco & alcohol)?

OK... I agree with that.

However, I think the whole reason most people do drugs is that they make you feel good. Not crappy. You only feel crappy if you overdo them... then you feel crappy as you come down.

The second part is tougher. I typically argue that ANYTHING in excess is bad for your body. So yes... exercise in excess is bad, and carrots in excess is bad.

I won't say anything in moderation is good.

I will say most things in moderation are good.

Example... wine. It's an alcohol... so taken in excess it's bad for you. However, in moderation it's been proven to be helpful to the heart and the immune system.

Pot I would argue falls into this category. In excess it is bad... it distracts you from longer term goals, and can have negative effects on the body. There is no evidence that it has bad effects on your body in moderation... and if you are the type of person that stresses a lot in moderation it is a good way to relax or come down from a tough workday.

What harm to society?

Most of the harm from drugs is caused by the fact they are illegal.

There are two other ways they cause harm...

1) Medical bills of people who use drugs and don't pay for their healthcare. I say f*ck 'EM. If you don't like that answer I suggest we make drugs legal... tax them... and use those taxes to pay these medical bills.

2) Accidents cause by people on drugs or violent acts caused by serious abusers. Easy fix... punish these people... make the punishments harsh... make them public. That will dissuade abuse as it has with drinking and driving.
