Then in the eyes of your fellow christians (or the ones I've had the misfortune of knowing) you would be referred to as a backslider. And by the way, there are many who do not believe in your fairy tales. And somebody mentioned earlier that you have wasted nothing by believing, yet those who don't believe could be punished if it turns out to be real. I feel I must say that fear of punishment is no reason to believe in something. Or rather being afraid of what happens if a belief turns out to be real is not a good reason to believe in it.Lionz wrote:Sect? God's not about making people "fear his wrath" and crap, that's just a stereotype, kinda like the guy that knocks on your door and says, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" or "Repent! For judgement is near!" or other garbage. I believe in God because he is always looking out for me and what's best for me. I think of God in a positive way, like how he freely gives eternal life to anyone who wants it, or how he answers prayers and such rather than the "You're all going to hell" kind of thinking. And this is probably because I already know for fact I'm going to heaven. I know I've mentioned this in another thread, but do you know who William Lane Craig is? So, I suppose if you were born and living in a poverty stricken country forced to drink the same water you piss and shit into, and be lucky to die early as the pangs of the hundred viruses that will probably kill you before you are ten years old, you wouldnt believe, because...It doesnt much seem like hes looking out for whats best for them, or answering their prayers, except perhaps the ones that ask to die early to avoid the suffering. I hope you get that skateboard you prayed for though. Those things are cool.Victor Sullivan wrote:God's not about making people "fear his wrath" and crap, that's just a stereotype, kinda like the guy that knocks on your door and says, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" or "Repent! God may not be making people fear his wrath, but that is the message the majority of preachers and christians in general (that I have known, mind you, I am not trying to say it is all of them.) They use the argument that "Well if I'm wrong then I've wasted nothing, but if you're wrong then you're going to go to hell." Well, I am just saying that to buy into a religious belief system because one is scared of the consequences if it is true and they are not a believer, is a very dumb reason to subscribe to a faith. And there are many, many christians I have known that believe or profess to believe precisely because of this. It is not logical at all. If you want to believe in something, be my guest. But at least have some good reasons for it. (Which I guess you do, as you say God has blessed you and so you choose to worship him. Good enough for me, but still, I must ask, how do you know for sure that you are going to heaven? What if you commit a sin, and before asking for forgiveness, a bus runs you over? Would you not then go to hell as yo would have unrepented sins?)Victor Sullivan wrote:God's not about making people "fear his wrath" and crap, that's just a stereotype, kinda like the guy that knocks on your door and says, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" or "Repent! Sorry for jumping on the bandwagon of the Beat Down Sully Crew, but it's still coercion if a book (God)/establishment declares that the punishment for disobeying the rules is Fiery Hell.Victor Sullivan wrote:God's not about making people "fear his wrath" and crap, that's just a stereotype, kinda like the guy that knocks on your door and says, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand" or "Repent! No, i am not aware of any. If I remember correctly however, Judaism honors the sabbath on the 7th day. As far as I know, I've never heard anyone call him Yah or Yahushua. I have heard YHWH, normally pronounced as yahweh. But I guess if you've never really gone to church then you can't be considered a backslider. But, a small suggestion for you, maybe convert to Judaism. I don't know much about you, but from the small amount I've inferred based on this thread, perhaps that is closer to your thinking than Christianity. Don't know if that is in any way true or not, just a suggestion.Lionz wrote:tkr - you might say I was never a church going type...is there one you're aware of that calls Him Yahushua or that tries to honor the 7th day as a sabbath day?
In the bible. It says that the only way into heaven is through belief in Jesus. Therefore, if you do not believe in Jesus, then you will not get into heaven. And if you do not get into heaven, then there is only one more place to go, and that is hell. Perhaps read it and you will see.2dimes wrote:Where does it say that?

What you are describing is a Messianic Jewish synagogue. If you don't know of one in your area, try contacting "Jews for Jesus".Lionz wrote:tkr - you might say I was never a church going type...is there one you're aware of that calls Him Yahushua or that tries to honor the 7th day as a sabbath day?
Way harsh, dude. The single verse you are talking about is Hebrews 10:25, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." The "let us" is a passive construction or subjunctive mood, which is a weak imperative, almost a suggestion or a wish. Certainly "meeting together" is not an absolute imperative of our faith. Paul here says the same about "encourag[ing] one another". How encouraged do you think Lionz is right now to go to the kind of meetings you go to? It's good that you have found the kind of Christian community where you belong and can give and receive encouragement; he obviously has not yet.guardian1357 wrote:Lionz wrote:Sect? then your a hypocrite and a false teacher...
The bible clearly states that believers should gather in groups to worship in his name and also teaches should someone teach something other than is written in the bible that he is a false prophet.
How do you think you can pick and choose what to obey and follow in the bible?
Here's a link to a guy discussing those names. I don't endorse him or his teachings but if you have any ability to decern things you should be able to come to an understanding of his basic premise.tkr4lf wrote: I've never heard anyone call him Yah or Yahushua.
