"Please Select" Dropdowns

Post by davenel »

Great site/game.

I have a suggestion for you. I cannot tell you how many rounds &
games I have lost because the dropdowns default to a valid
selection, but not the selection I want due to some level of
inattention. While it can certanily be argued that I should pay
attention to my moves, simply adding a "Please Select" to the
dropdowns that passes an invalid value would prevent this problem.
Again... I recognize that this is my own inattention, but a few of
my friends have had the same experience. I guess for us it is a
good thing that all the banking sites have this in place already.

Thanks again...

This'll probably be filed in the "you can't please everyone" category. Some of the default selections were changed way back when because people wanted it to default to the most likely choice when going on a rampage across the map. I'll tell you it makes it much easier than always having to select the options. Personally, I like it the way it is... I'd hate to have to always select attack options. carpal tunnel sucks! lol

On Attack yes... but I am talking about Deployment of Armies or fortification... (default is 1 army)... where the dropdowns are alphabetical of your territories.

This is where you have the accidental potential of deploying 15 armies in a territory that you cannot attack from ... effectively retiring these armies from the game...

I agree to what you say Wicked, BUT I have also make this mistake and on deplyment I can REALLY see a benifit to making the user select the territoty.

I like the drop down menu the way it is now.
