I have asked many many times for someone to please define farming for me. I have a general idea but i would really like a definition in black & white that I can actually see with a description of what a player who is "farming" has to do to be accused. A law has a statute, can someone give me the equivalent of a statute regarding this major no no? Please....

I tested CC's anti-farming legislation a while back by reporting a player that had put up 80 games on maps and settings that drew 99% New recruits. My argument being that after the first 30 or so games even an ape could see the connection and thus there was no question about intent.
CC slapped him on the wrist, smacked him on the bum and said "run along now".

You may have more luck if the person is low profile though. Say what they will, I'm sure the C&A dept are very reluctant to bust a prominent member of the community unless the case is so open and shut his friends won't even dare argue it.

End of the day though, we can all see how people choose to "earn their living" here. Those that earn a rank by farming aren't really fooling anyone, so if they want to disillusion themselves about that, well...

the reason I'm asking is mainly because I never want to be accused of something I had no idea I was doing and secondly, if the way I understand is correct, if a team or a player starts several games on a map that they do well on (which I have done many times when there are no good games to join) also if I'm duck hunting and see several high ranked players in a game, I will grab the best team mates I know and try to knock them down! Believe it or not, I consider this fun! But those higher ranked players of the games that I have joined, would they be considered farmers if my team mates and myself were of considerably lower rank? If so, It just doesnt seem right. I look at as the bigger they are, the harder they fall and all the more points for me! Also, I have joined these games of my own free will, so why on earth would I hold it against this other team if by chance they happen to win? Its not like they could keep me from joining.... or is it just the same players posting multiple games with the same map and settings? is that the bad thing? or the fact that I was gutsy enough to join in the first place? if its the latter, then I should be the one penalized, not the team that originated the game... I apologise for using this thread find out the answer to my question, but I couldnt think of a better place to get feedback than a thread that is used to investigate the actions that I was wondering about.

This is a question, not a report, so it shall be moved as such.

Systematically 'farming' new recruits is playing only new recruits in an attempt at really easy points. The inexperienced players will give small amounts of points, but almost always ensure a victory for the farmer. Little/no skill is required and it is considered a major infraction and gross abuse of the game.

That's one way, but the other way is to also make games that New Recruits love! One example is standard 5 player games, which is the largest type of game that a New Recruit can join. These are generally magnets for them.

If they're inviting newbies it's a lot easier to build a case. If they're playing 5 man luxemburg sunny, no spoils because they "like them settings" it's much more difficult to prove.

Newbie farming is not only about joining games with new recruits but also creating specific games consistently which you have become aware that lures new recruits to join. At first, you may declare that you didn't know that your "preferred" settings would be joined by so many new recruits and that it should not be your fault or it is beyond your control of who joins them.

If you are aware of the newbie farming rule, and you still continued to make those settings and still get all these new recruits in your games, then your actions could become questionable.

Because of the newbie farming rule, you might be told to stop with what your doing or advised to make some changes in your game settings in order to have more "seasoned" players in your collection of opponents. This is still up for an investigation. You may say that it sucks, but that's how it is because of this rule. This doesn't mean you can't play against new recruits, but if you continue to have suspiciously above average attendance by new recruits, then you may have to re-check what your doing.

I think your question is more about farming in general, than elicit farming. Elicit farming is fairly well defined and to date only involves systematic targeting of new recruits. After theyve played 5 games, they are fair game and you can kill as many of them as you want...theoretically.

However, farming in general is defined differently by everyone, but anyone spending most of their time killing much lower skilled players is without a doubt farming on some level. Nearly all have farmed in that respect whether purposefully, or not at some point in time, so there is nothing you can do except never play anyone lower ranked than yourself to block all possibilities of someone calling you a farmer.

However, unless youre wiping out a lot of ?s and obviously so, youll have no real fears of conviction...but there is always the fear of accusation...pretty much no matter what you do, so theres no point even worrying about that aspect of it.

I myself had an accusation of farming at one point. The detective who instigated the report was able to find a full 35-50 new recruits killed inside of 800 games or so. Sure I was acquitted...which some laughter as I recall, but its clear no one is safe from the accusation no matter what. At the same time, in general, I have farmed without a doubt to varying degrees while here on CC, just well within the rules.

In the end, this is a world domination game, and killing a few players that arent as good as you, is perhaps the epitome of war itself, and even in the case of the worst farming ever, no one was technically cheated per-se. The anti-farming rules is just trying to keep it from progressing to the point of slaughter of innocent women and children...if you can excuse the rough analogy. Hope this helps.

"Farming" points of highrankers because you are just that damm good is.. no farming, but a duty to CC. Obviously, if i were to enter an terminator game and you would suicide into me for my points i would foe and rate you accordingly, but its fun, legal and rewarding while you can.

The basic rule here is that any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. Taking down highrankers is considered part of a level playingfield and thus not gross abuse. Farming is also only an example. I have never heard of farming, but it sounds to me it is a tactic with 50/50 results.
If we all went into games with the same statagy that would just suck.

If players are setting up games you don't like....don't join

If players hijack your games and you don't like their game play...foe them

Farming is usually used as a term for people trying to take on new and inexperienced players on a difficult map and settings they know will confuse them. Thus giving them easy points.

as to the rest of your post. Very true!! do not join what you do not like.
