lol I was night killed on day 1 of my second game (this is my fourth I think - all still in progress). Sad thing was, it was the first (only) time I was mafia, and I didnt even get through the first night!

I agree with herk that we shouldnt jump straight on streaker, although he has acted the scummiest, it is the type of thing which is far more likely to be noobiness rather than say scummarining or jumping straight on a bandwagon

Yeah, I know what you mean. I wanna be mafia! But I keep getting dumbass town roles... That's why I signed up for so many games. I figure I will be mafia soon in at least one of them!

And about Streaker, I'm pretty sure if you look at my first posts in NB mafia you will see that I looked newb/scummy. I mean I advocated for a no lynch and random bandwagoning... =D

It sounds like you're trying to see if you can flush out a cop or investigative role.

Theherkman was doing the same thing, and he has played a couple of games.

That's why it's suspicious. He is copying whatever Herk was doing. One paranoid player is enough to me ;)

@THM: mafia isn't as great as you'd think, believe me :P it's way cooler to have the dumbass role and figure out the mafia. As a mafia character you almost have to frame other players which I don't really like. Feel sorry for ye tho.

Almost all newbs seem to do that, lol :P

Yeah, but on the other hand, if we give them a free pass, how will they ever learn?

Then again, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put pressure on one of the more quiet people, has anyone kept tabs on the submariners? (I'm too lazy)

Chillin', lurkin' like a mofo. Just like back in the old days.

Honest, I had something to say but it slipped my mind. Fuzzy memory I tells ya.
As for newbies, we should not give them a free pass but we should be somewhat more lax in regards to them. We can't hold them to the same standards as others and be a bit more understanding of noobish behaviour, it's when they do things just a tad too scummy that we should be pouncing on them.

Bah, being mafia is actually awesome provided it's in a good setup. It's trickier then usual, and you may get stressed if you have played them too often in a short amount of time but it can be great fun.

Why wouldn't we? Noobs don't know how to play the game like we do. They're going to say scummy things and that should be expected as they are just learning. A noob won't know why a cop shouldn't claim right away, they likely just see it as free results for the town. Nor will they know that random lynches and no lynches are no nos. It takes a game a a few days alive to learn this. Unless the noob posts something that makes little sense or someone has a strong argument that isn't based off of a noob scumtell (for example your assucation against Herk in Restaurant Mafia. He could be classified as a noob (however Brais went on for so long I'd say his noob trail time as ran out), but your argument didn't bring up noob tells, but rather metagaming that even with knowledge would have been done. It is clear that this case if based off of not knowing information which is a noob tell. No reason not to let him off.

The game started not even 2 days ago and you want to look for scumariners? Sounds like someones a bit edger to get a target for lynch.

I'd also like to add, metagaming a bit here, that Night 0 ending so quickly probably means that active players in the mafia subforum probably have investigative roles. While I understand this means most of us, I'd like to point out that someone like tdans who's more active in other forums probably isn't an investigative role. Just bringing this up because we can learn something from an unusually short night period.

Just curious, but is this a joke vote or did you take what I wrote seriously?

I don't know about you lot but I am going to completely ignore the timing of night 0 and when it ended. I think it a terrible idea to try to assume what people could have been online and thus could have had a role for it, plus all it takes is someone claiming "I think that guy was on at that time.." and fuzzy memories to send us into circling arguments. And really, if such an accusation were made, how would anyone defend on it? "Oh it couldn't have been me I was asleep at the time"? It has no game basis so I don't feel it appropriate to discuss in terms of lynching people.

And the end of times is here. Thoughts:
Trying to guess at the setup, or who the night 0 people were, is in my opinion premature. There are far too many options right now, so it's kinda pointless. However when we do get more useful info from deaths and scenes, we can. At this point in time, trying to guess if there are multiple mafias, town groups or whatever is basically a waste of time.

We should be looking at the usual, ie people's behaviour. In regards to giving inexperienced players free passes, I'm not a huge fan, but you can usually tell when a scumtell is instead a tell of inexperience.

I guessed and mod confirmed that night 0 ended so fast because anyone who had a night zero action sent them in. That means that while quite a few of us could have actions, only a select few had night 0 opportunities.

Unvote, Vote Fuzzy Logic

While I agree that newb players have a tendency to not know when they drop scum tells, he is still suspicious to me newb or not.
