that's what popularity means.
a video with lots of view = popular video
an artists with lots of records sold = popular artist
a map with lots of games = popular map.
of course it's not a perfect system.
i'd rather see a formula that also includes number of rounds played per game or number of unique players or actual time spent playing.
because for example 100 doodle games have a total round count of 250 while 10 world 2.1 games might even go for 300 total rounds.
also on doodle the average round time is 30 seconds while on world 2.1 is probably 2 minutes.
