You can't explain that.
With Peyton in the game the Saints wouldn't have gotten nearly as many possessions. The Colts would've held the ball longer and it probably would've been a close 40-35 game or something.

Indeed. Manning kind of was like a blanket you put down for a picnic in the park--good at covering up holes and making things comfortable.

Peyton is the type of QB who can make his receivers look better than they are. Reggie Wayne is probably and above average WR, but he's showing that he doesn't have the tools to dominate a 1 on 1 matchup like the elite WR's can. Collie and Garcon are probably #3 WR's, and Gonzalez hasn't been good since he got hurt.

This is also the problem of not having a good run game. The Saints found a couple backs who can run it with power or bounce it to the outside. Addai can do neither of these things well, and Carter may develop into a power back, but he's too inexperienced to be expected to be able to do that.

They're asking Dallas Clark to run block when he clearly is not built to be able to do that. And they didn't bother to go out and draft/sign a backup QB who can at least play somewhat competently. That's the difference between Matt Schaub going down and Sage Rosenfels at least keeping them respectable and Peyton going down and having Collins/Painter stinking up the place.

Another crazy week eh, initially I thought all my picks were going to come in. Playing hurt is always a factor in the NFL --after about two quarters of the first game-- but big injuries to key players are starting to pile on.

Week 7
WAS @ CAR the Panther's were due & the the Skins remain inconsistent
SEA @ CLE Gadzooks... a 6-3 sleeper is not what I expected here
ATL @ DET Dirty Birds haven't done much on the road, so this is a nice win =D>
DEN @ MIA oops... should have taken the PAT fishes, you needed that point
SD @ NYJ sit back and watch the Rivers flow blow, now with more INTs than TDs
CHI @ TB the Bucs play best at home and this game was in London
HOU @ TENN the Titans are really hard to figure
PITT @ ARI Big Ben & the Boys are rolling again.
KC @ OAK Raiders running on empty this week and tossing balls to the wrong team
STL @ DAL no more Romo prezzies
GB @ MINN the Vikes look pretty sad, but they gave the Pack a tough game
IND @ NO the Colts can at least catch some good eats this weekend
BAL @ JAC Dominant D, Scobee kicks the Ravens to the curb.

9-4. . . 65-38

Injuries indeed. I think the next slate of games has a couple of good ones I'm looking forward to watching.

I just watched the Falcons/Lions highlights and Ryan is fortunate
his ankle wasn't broken on that play when his linemen backed up
and stepped on him. Ouch! that looked ugly.

Atlanta holds on to win 2 in a row for the first time this year,
while Detroit has their second home game slip away. Even at
5-0 the Lions weren't dominant, but they were getting it done.
The Pack is unbeaten but in this crazy season, no team is
dominant and it's going to be fun to watch this play out.

A few good rivals lock horns this week: Pats @ Steelers, Cowboys @ Eagles,
Chargers @ Chiefs and Stafford @ Tebow.

I'm surprised nobody is looking at picking up T.O. right now. I'd definitely want him if I were the Titans after losing Britt.

I'd say it's for the same reason the Raiders didn't want to play Palmer. He's good, but he's rusty. The Titans are most likely to give him a look, seeing as they semi-expressed interest earlier.

True, but you wonder how long he can play at a NFL level. Everyone thought Belichick could turn Ochocinco into a great WR, and that hasn't happened.

Next time Tebow has a bad day and gets schooled by a defense, I'm calling him overrated.

Well I mean, Flacco's been in the league 2 more years, has been starting 3 more years than Tebow and he still only net 1 (I think it was 1) yard passing against the Jags.

The list of QBs that are 'acceptable/mediocre' is pretty big, and it will always be so in the NFL.

I don't have an overrated QB list. There are the elite QBs
like Rodgers, Brees, Brady and Rothlisberger
and there are the rest.

Flacco has taken the Falcons Ravens to the playoffs and Tebow
has won a single game against the winless Dolphins, so
Tim still has a ways to go.

That's quite an exaggeration. And Tebow hardly did better than Flacco did, save the last five minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I think there's not a large enough sample to gauge Tebow's ability at this point. I just think Flacco deserves at least some credit for his whole body of work, not to just be judged on one bad game (And this is coming from a Steeler fan).

Not to mention that Flacco was playing a rather good Jags defensive unit (4th in RZ possessions allowed, 10th in Rushing Yards allowed per game, 10th in Rushing TD's allowed per game, 6th in Passing Yards allowed per game, 12th in Passing TD's allowed per game).

Tebow played a really bad Miami unit (18th in RZ possessions allowed, 20th in Rushing Yards per Game allowed, 7th in Rushing TD's allowed per game, 21st in Passing Yards allowed per game, 29th in Passing TD's allowed per game).
