Re: NFL Picks: Week 12 starts early with 3 on Turkey Day

Post by oVo »

How pathetic were the Lions today? A dominating first half of football and they go into halftime trailing by a touchdown. On the scoreboard Detroit looks like the same old Turkey Day blunderers. The offense has it rolling and they stop themselves with stoopid penalties... and the defense matches it with some of their own, including Suh's biggest brain fart of the day getting him kicked out in the third quarter. I hope his stupidity is rewarded with a big fine and suspension. What an idiot. They'll look back on this game and realize it was definitely theirs for the taking.

Alright, I'm confused by the Dolphins' defensive strategy at the end of the game. The Cowboys are already in field goal range and are just running out the clock with runs. Why didn't they LET Murray run in for a touchdown? I feel like that would've given them the best chance to win.

Also, the catch by Marshall was beyond ridiculous. He was literally in a sleeper hold by the Cowboy DB and still caught it.

And Stafford looked atrocious. I don't trust the Giants, so it looks like it'll be up to Caleb Hanie to beat the Pack.

Newman was willing to take the pass interference penalty,
but still didn't do enough to stop the TD reception.

The allowing them to score to get one more possession is a tough strategy
and it was used once in a playoff game... unsuccessfully.

Detroit... wudda, cudda & shudda, while the Ravens are still masters of their domain.

Man, everyone seems to be on the Bills to beat the Jets. With Fred Jackson on IR, and the fact that everyone seems to have figured out the Bills offense, I think the Jets put the clamps on them again. Especially with Stevie Johnson nursing a bum shoulder and still on Revis Island.

The Bills have no other really big time offensive weapons without Jackson and Johnson.

There's certainly plenty of time to flip that pick, but it's not like Sanchez and the Jets have been a scoring machine. I was figuring it might be a game of field position, defensive attrition and that home field is New York's biggest advantage.

Guys, stop picking Denver. We do better when we're the underdog.

Fun Fact: Denver is one game behind Cincinnati in the Wild Card race. Denver also won the head to head matchup between the two in Week 2. That means that barring a total collapse from Cincy, if Denver gets in as the 6th seed more likely than not they'll have Kyle Orton to thank. Doubly so if it comes down to KC @ DEN at the end.

Lienart was looking good for the Texans in Jacksonville with a TD toss
before getting knocked out of the game in the Second Quarter.

Ugh, too many drops. 3rd and five, Tebow throws a bullet to Royal for the first and Royal, whom I love, drops it. Tebow can be inaccurate, but our receivers hurt him by dropping passes.

That was an intense end of the 4th quarter/overtime. I was sweating my balls off. Von Miller once again played spectacularly. He got that tackle behind the line right before the missed Novak field goal at the end, which is one of the biggest plays he's made all year.

We're still fucking in it.

I'm split about how I want to win this Sunday night game. Pittsburgh might get in our way in the wild card race, but the Chiefs aren't that far behind us.

Like I said, if Pittsburgh beats Cincy next week and the Broncos beat the Vikings, Denver has a playoff spot (provided they can hang onto it).

The rest of the season is going to be fun. The biggest threat we face from here on out is the Patriots, but our defense will have a chance to shut them down. The game against the Bears is going to be tough, but the Cutler injury surely helps us. The Bills are reeling so that's a very winnable game and I kind of hoped Orton would go to a different team than the Cheifs because now he has a chance to beat us in the season finale (which might have tremendous playoff implications).

This is assuming the Raiders win the division then?

The Chiefs defense certainly made a game of it. I picked the Steelers,
but the effort of KC's D made me pull for them the entire second half.
I was bummed they kicked that field goal instead of going for it
late in the fourth quarter.

Tebow squeezes out another OT win, adding to the Chargers total collapse,
while Brady & Welker made it look easy in Philly.

Tebow to me is almost like the Little Tank Engine that could. He's not a traditional passer (though I think he'll get better and judging from the stats I heard already is) nor is he a traditional quarterback in any sense of the word and he gets all the flak in the world for that but he keeps getting it done. I know he's a former Florida qb and I should automatically hate him for that but it's hard not to root for Tebow. Anyways great weekend of games. Wish I had picked better though...

Ouch for Houston. They've caught too many breaks this season, and not in a good way.

ESPN reported that Jeff Garcia tried out for Houston recently.
