HELP!!!: We need a new word for 'Farming'

Postby Crazyirishman on Fri Jan 27, 2012 4:44 pm

Hello all, as of recently, the words farming and ranching have been thrown around with a lot of negativity as of late in these here forums. I myself come from a "farming" town and find this to be extremely offensive. Farmers in real life, grow and nurture crops to provie food for all of us hungry folk and ranchers raise cattle and other livestock so you can get the fresh, homegrown feeling when you eat your din din. Farmers are really nice and hardworking people.
Image Image Image

See, these folk would never want to take advantage of our newer inadequate players, to reap their points, they just want to make and honest living and provide for their littlins'. I would like tro propose that we ban the use of the word farming here in these forums because their is nothing positive that can come from using this word in such a bad way.

So the intent of this thread will be to brainstorm ideas from our intelligent base of CC forum goers to come up with a new word to describe the meanies who take advantage of CC's less fortunate. These people are not farmers, as they do not allow the players to grow and prosper, which is what a real farmer should do. Look a the SoC, they help many player get better with their gameplay and I think they are all very good farmers. However the users whow dont help others prosper, should not be given the honorable title of farmer or rancher or any type of honest manual labor that provides for the greater good.

So now I ask you my fellow CC friends, to put your heads together and think really hard about what we can do about this "Farming" problem and what we can rename it so the the site can be a better place and farmers can have that positive image that they worked so hard to obtain.

EDIT: bogroll has taken the lead for best possible new word to use and thus bogrolling should be a punishable offense
Thanks all, -Crazy

Yeah, but from the point of view of an ear of corn, you're their "Hitler", so to them a farmer is the worst word imaginable.

While some evil people wear their title with pride, the masses look at them in disgust for what they've done.

All those poor little corn colonels... no wonder they pick on the new recruits so often....to work up to an icon, that is somewhat representative as the nazis as well.

So there, you farmer.
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk
Too much. I know.

But I am perplexed... how the heck does somebody from Philly even know what a Bogroll is in the 1st place?

In the states, we're more likely to be buggered by traffic reports of a lorry running out of petrol every day for a fortnight, than we are to here the word bogroll, lol

bogroll is a priceless suggestion.

It's cheap, it's flimsy, it belongs in a sewer. People are embarrassed to be seen with it. And it's designed to take a lot of shit.

I take offense to the 'donkey' suggestions - it's an insult to donkey's everywhere and what did they ever do to you?

I suggest we name it after the person who uses this tactic to advance himself (in his own mind) - and we all know who that is!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agricultural Workers, no.

Harvesters, maybe

Shepherds, no

If we are going to change the terminology, then keep the metaphor.

Why not have several levels of farming:

Farmers - CC-law-breaking farmers (invite new recruits)

Harvesters - those close to the line (invite low ranks)

Agricultural Workers - occassional harvesters (join new recruit / low rank games a lot)

Crop Growers - map specialists that play anyone and are ok in most people's book (simply start games they are good at)

uhhh... DJ, you're kinda missing the point...

All those forms of Farming are somewhat honorable in real life,
but here, they are mostly despised...

Bogroller is too kind if you ask me, but it's the best anyone has come up with thus far...

Chapter IV
On the way home to fetch money and fresh clothing, Don Quixote hears crying and finds a farmer whipping a young boy. The farmer explains that the boy has been failing in his duties; the boy complains that his master has not been paying him. Don Quixote, calling the farmer a knight, tells him to pay the boy. The boy tells Don Quixote that the farmer is not a knight, but Don Quixote ignores him. The farmer swears by his knighthood that he will pay the boy. As Don Quixote rides away, satisfied, the farmer flogs the boy even more severely.

Damn those evil farmers, damn them all...

So, but I still think we have to keep the meaphoir as much as possible:

    Battery (Factory) farming
    Intensive Farming
    GM farming

Assault and battery farming (setting up dozens of private games)
Ploughing a lonely furrow (playing almost exclusively 1v1 games)
Combine harvesting (getting a friend or house/frat mate to join your games to help you win)
CONcurrer (anyone in agreement that the scoreboard is flawed, or a new title for the person atop it)
noobile (not man enough to play one's equals)

I could do this all day. Fun!
