I bookmark the topic after I sign up for a tourney. An * appears next to the topic name. It helps a lot.

Unfortunately, this is the only current method we have.

If you have already played games in the tournament, you can also search games for yourself and select tournament as a option.

I would support an easier option than bookmarking every tournament you sign up for though.

Yes I've always thought a better option should be available.

Would be nice to have an easier option to pick from so you could see all the tournaments you have done. I like the idea of it :)

Seeing which tournaments you've signed up for that haven't started won't be possible until there is more automation in the tournament system (like Conquer Cup). Seeing which ones you're actively in would be relatively easy once you've joined a game in that tournament based on some of the stats available to the TDs behind the scenes that could be modified.

I used to do that, until I got a new computer and don't have my saved bookmarks anymore.... :(

fully support this idea. I've been eliminated of tournaments without losing a single match, and realize it months after the conclusion of the tourny....

I think Evil Semp meant the CC bookmarks that can be utilized. You can bookmark a thread at the bottom of the page and they show up here: ucp.php?i=main&mode=bookmarks

Yeah I have been eliminated in a tournament that I should have been moved forward on due to an error by TO. The only problem?

It took months for me to remember "oh whatever happened to such and such tournament" and when I went to check it was already on the finals! A little to late to complain.

I think that if a TO does that and that the final is still not over, it's too bad for the guy who reached the final due to an error and i would make a rematch of all the wrongly seeded games.

otherwise fully agree with the OP

Off topic: I agree with this. I try very hard to keep track of the tournaments that I'm in and where they're at. But if I were to miss something, I would think that the TO should make reasonable efforts to back track the tournament and write off any affected games as mistakes. Now this wouldn't work in some of the huge tournies, I'm in if they reached finals. But that would take months. For most tournies, replaying a couple of games to fix a mistake is the proper outcome.

On topic: I would love it if much of the effort that I put in to keep track of tournies was automated by this site. This could be done by adding one step to the TO's tasks: they would have to submit a roster at the beginning of the tournament. The roster could go into the same database as the current Tournament Finder one that records Tournament Name, TO, winner, etc. The Tournament Finder page would be updated with one more field: "With Player." You could find all tournaments you're in by querying your name in that field.

Bonus points, if the powers that be add further options to distinguish between active, finished, unstarted, or dead tournaments.

I hesitate to add more responsibility to TO's, but if they were required (or given the option) to note eliminated players, you could even add options next to the newly created "With Player" box to query only active or finished tournaments.

Hell, if I were in charge of the world (or at least CC) and if there weren't problems integrating it into the forum software, I'd completely revamp the TO stuff to make it easier on TO's.

Feel free to adopt/post whatever I come up with below as a separate suggestion:

TO's would be sent to a Manage Tournaments screen. Each tournament would have an interactive page that would look like this:

Tournament Name _____________ [Request Privileges button]

Tournament Type: _____________

Tournament Organizer: [Your username would appear here]
[Below that would be a textbox, that you could put in a co-organizer] [Find member link]

[Add button]

Status: [Radio buttons] ( ) Waiting for Players ( ) Active ( ) Finished, Winner: __________ [Last field would be grayed out, unless finished is selected]

Add Players: [Here would be a text field for adding players either individually or in groups separated by commas or whatever] [find member link]

[Add button]

Players: [Here would be a list of all players added through process above]

Player 1 [Each Player would have a checkbox next to him]
Player 2

[Remove Selected Players button] [Eliminate Selected Players button]

[The two buttons above: The former would be to correct mistakes, the latter to show that the player has been eliminated from the tournament]

[Possibly for larger tournaments, have a text field to eliminate multiple players at the same time for all those TOs that have fancy Excel stuff and don't want to click 200 check boxes.]

Chap, you and I need to go off and create our own private site with all these modifications we both like. It seems like we find ourselves in agreement quite a bit lately. Quite a bit in this thread alone.
