I said I believe he'll win it, not that I want him to win it! The Rangers would still be good without Lundqvist, but the Kings probably wouldn't be a playoff team without Quick. I'd rather see Quick win it. But yeah, east coast bias will probably play out.

f*ck me.

Looks like the number 1 seed is out of the question because we couldn't beat the fucking Islanders.

Oh well. With Crosby in the line up, I feel like it'll be hard as shit to beat us in a seven game series.

What a fucking cheap shot on Crosby from behind. I couldn't watch the game, but when I saw the replay I was pissed as shit. He just sat our for an entire year with a concussion injury and then the Flyers do this?

f*ck them. Hopefully we crush them in the playoffs.

We may not be one of the teams shown on Versus constantly, but the Islanders are looking good for next year. I know this is something that all 5 Islanders fans have said every year, but with some defensive help we can make the playoffs next year.

Yeah, their playoffs have already begun and they can't seem to remember
what was working for them to be a factor in the West.

Well Tavares is only going to get better and if Streit can stay healthy and Nabokov comes back to his old form then anything is possible. Add a high draft pick to the mix and things can get really interesting. Just look at Ottawa this year. Who would've at the start of the season think they would be this good? Even the maple leafs looked like they where going to make the playoff this year :)! Although I shouldn't say much because the Canadiens are even lower in the standings  .

I'll have to cheer for my second team this years (the penguins). I just hope anyone but the Bruins wins it this year. I can't stand those cocky bastards! Unfortunately they'll probably get the Senators in the first round and win quite easily. I just don't see how Ottawas slap happy offense and poor defense is going to stand up to the Bruins come playoff time. If the Rangers beat the Capitals (or Sabres) whichever it'll be then the winner of the Pens/Philly matchup will go on to meet the Bruins (baring a surprise win by Florida). Pens-Philly is going 7 games. And seven exhausting games so whoever comes out of it on top will have to meet the Bruins. And I think Bruins wins the matchup and goes to the semifinals. Remember from who you heard it first ;)!

They are going to be a good team in the next 2 or 3 years. I'd be excited if I were you.

I definitely am excited, with a good draft as Gillipig said we can make the playoffs despite finishing last or second to last in the division.

Of the top teams in the East, the Rangers are the most lacking in playoff experience, so I'll be very surprised if they are able to get to the conference finals (and, as a Penguins fan, I'm pretty damn biased by saying that considering we'll have to play them if both of us win our first round series).

And yea, the Penguins/Flyers is definitely going at least 6. I still think we have the better team so I'll be pretty disappointed if we lose (especially after last year when we lost in 7 to the Lightning [granted, we were without both Malkin and Crosby]).

ok long shot here but my guess is the islanders are going to move to brooklyn / or leave for another town if things at 2nd floor still is the same. They got an old arena ( asbestos in it ), the best thing would be to move them to brooklyn ( new arena is there and they alreayd playing one game next season in it ) and closer to where it's happening in new york .. i hear it's a residential area in long island ? not the best place

imagine if they change their names for the new york americans ... just like in the 40's ....

The Nassau Coliseum is in the middle of a really small business sector and next to a community college. There is no public transport around here since there really isn't a need for it. The selfish part of me wants them to stay where they are with the Lighthouse Project giving them a new home, but the local government here (specifically one politician I shall not name) is preventing anything from happening, despite the project planned to be fully privately funded. It would be a success, because when the Islanders were successful everyone on Long Island was a fan of them. Now, not so much. Wang has tried for years and really has put his heart (and his wallet) behind this team, and I have nothing but good to say for him and the rest of the organization, top to bottom.

If they have to move, I would first look to Queens, where there is no stadium. However, even this is looking like a lost cause, since every day it seems more likely that there will be a soccer stadium built where the Islanders would move (not nearly 100% though). Queens is part New York City, part Long Island, and is accessible easily both by car and by public transport. This would be their best place to move, really.

The Brooklyn arena is way too small for NHL, only 14.5K. This would definitely have to be a temporary solution while the search for a stadium continues, but it would help the team take away fans from the Rangers, since they'd finally have some sort of a presence in the city. Still, this should be the last resort option. At least the fact that this stadium exists means the team doesn't become the Kansas City Tumbleweeds.

Judging by your post, I assume you live on Long Island or close by. Good to hear from someone in the know about their possible future. I too have heard about a possible move to Brooklyn as the Nets are planning on moving from New Jersey to Brooklyn when the arena is built. Like you said though, Queens sounds like the best option if they move as it is still part of Long Island. Islander fans back in the 80's were spoiled with some great teams. Though Wang has been a good owner (in spite of some curious personal decisions) as he wants the team to stay in Long Island and succeed there. I am sure the fans will repay him if that infamous Lighthouse Project comes to be.

The Road to the finals for us will be hard as shit. First we have to go through the Flyers, then the Rangers, then the Bruins (assuming the Rangers and Bruins move on, which I expect).

We have the most playoff experience over the last few years though, so I'm confident that we'll be able to do it.

You're assuming the Panthers beats Devils which I doubt they do. If Devils win, they'll be the lowest seed and meet the Rangers. Pens will meet Bruins if they advance I think.
