HarryHalcro made an alliance with me to attack bigsacks and didnt - instead attacked me. When I retalled and wiping most of him out he replied indicating that bigsacks was his mate and will now attack me (which he then did). This made it clear that the original alliance was made with the knowledge that he would not be attacking bigsacks as bigsacks was his mate. Therefore his behaviour during the game can only be explained by an understanding (either formal or just a general agreement) that they wouldnt attack each other.
