Ron Paul wins Iowa and Minnesota, and it looks like a a win in Missouri, Maine, and Washington as well as other states have won too! (delegate totals)

In my state, Ron Paul wins landslide style

“Ron Paul Wins Minnesota Delegates by a Landslide”

Ron Paul says he will have enough delegates to challenge Romney for the nomination.

A few weeks back, when Rick Santorum was arguing that he could power out delegate wins by organizing the little-noticed state conventions and caucuses, I agreed with him. And then Santorum quit. This left the state delegate pool hot and panting for Romneymentum, right?

Not quite yet. Over the weekend, Minnesota held congressional district conventions. Now, the state’s February caucus — one of the trio of non-binding contests Santorum won early that month — went 45 percent for Santorum, 27 percent for Paul, and only 17 percent for Romney. The Associated Press and other groups went on to estimate that Santorum would win 17 of Minnesota’s delegates, Paul would win 10, and Romney 6.

Wrong. Ron Paul dominated the CD conventions. According to a tweet from RNC committeewoman Pat Anderson, Paul took 20 of the 24 delegates available in the CDs.

That’s 20 delegates more than the zero that Paul got from Minnesota in 2008. Keep watching this. The Paul movement spent five years prepping for a guerilla delegate campaign…

I remembered hear that a few states in Paul was right behind Romney in secured delagates but he was trailing in overall pledged delagates. But I do not think that he is close anymore though.

He is a lot closer than most people know. I understand what is going on here and I have seen it with my own eyes. Our plan is working!

If you are reading this and you like Ron Paul, GET YOUR ASS TO YOUR PRIMARY/CAUCUS and vote for him. Stay and be a delegate. If it's your first time or you are confused by the process, just find a person with a Ron Paul T-shirt on. ;)

Well I hope Ron wins the republican nomination, I'm doubtful but I'd like to see it happen. He's a bit of a nutter but he'll bring some actual issues to the table. It would lead to a more substantive debate rather than the likely bullshity wedge issue contest we would see between Romney and Obama.

If I were registered, I'd vote Paul.

Alas, I'm too lazy.

You're not lazy! Perhaps, you value leisure more than the price of registering and then voting!

If you do a cost benefit analysis, voting really is pretty irrational. (unless, of course you value the act of voting itself and not the consequence that your vote ultimately has, which is probably the case for most people)

Also, I agree on Paul winning the nomination. It'd at least shake things up a bit.

Though I'm betting Obama gets his second term no matter what.

That's a pretty bold statement. Every day another Democrat distances themselves from Obama. One Democrat in Virginia even said he wasn't sure he would vote for Obama.

And people who vote the treasury make out like bandits!

Obama vs Romney I give it to Obama. They are similar so Obama will win due to the incumbents advantage.

Obama vs Paul. I dunno, it would really depend on how the public reacts to the issues Ron brings up. As it stands they don't get too much attention. Though Ron certainly has a charisma gap compared to Obama.

Romney is expected to sweep the next set of states. New York, Pennsylvania, and a couple more. If the f-ing media would grant fair coverage Ron Paul might really have the advantage. Almost every exit poll that I've seen say's Ron Paul would be the candidate of choice if Republicans thought that he could win.

Hate to say it, but the anti-abortion branch of our one party system isn't going to let someone with principles like Ron Paul have a shot at the white house. We're going to be choosing between the centrist whose true political motivations are unclear and Mitt Romney.

First, a look at Iowa, where the Des Moines Register notes how successful Paulites have been within the state GOP apparatus:

Six of the new Iowa GOP state central committee members elected at district conventions Saturday have publicly expressed support for Paul, a libertarian-leaning presidential candidate: Dave Cushman, John Kabitzke, Joel Kurtinitis, Marcus Fedler, Jeff Shipley and Kris Thiessen....

Two more new central committee members have close ties to Paul. Tony Krebsbach was a county coordinator for Campaign for Liberty, a group Paul founded. And when Chad Steenhoek was running for the Iowa House in 2010, the Campaign for Liberty PAC gave him a donation and Paul spoke on his behalf. Steenhoek said Saturday he caucused for Gingrich. Steenhoek said he doesn’t subscribe to a Ron Paul philosophy so much as a Republican philosophy of limited government and individual rights.

The growing Paul faction in leadership positions at the Republican Party of Iowa — including the new chairman, A.J. Spiker, who was the Paul campaign’s Iowa vice chairman and can break ties in central committee votes — has created tension with Iowa Republicans who do not share their affection for the Texas congressman or subscribe to some of his views....

This can all be very important for what is able to happen for Paul in Tampa in August:

For some, Saturday’s push wasn’t as much about Iowa as it was about the national effort for Paul.

Several Paul loyalists said they harbor hope for getting Paul nominated at the national convention in Tampa, Fla., in late August. In order to do that, Paul must have a majority of support from at least five state delegations. With states like North Dakota, Minnesota, and others on track, his supporters could then attempt to nominate him from the floor.

Iowa’s 28 delegates are all “unbound,” meaning they can individually decide which presidential candidate to support. To stop Paul supporters from controlling the Iowa delegation, Romney backers in Iowa said they will likely focus on teaming up with Christian conservatives here.

Paul loyalists did well in getting their supporters onto the GOP’s “state nomination committee,” which will nominate Iowa’s 13 at-large national delegates. Another 12 delegates will be selected June 15. The GOP chairman and Iowa’s two Republican National Committee members are also delegates.

Not only does Obama have Democrat Senators saying they are not sure they will even vote for Obama, but now Obama has even lost Matt Damon. Obama can't win without Matt Damon.

http://www.ijreview.com/2012/04/3880-ce ... -of-obama/

The president sounded a little defensive about it too....
Obama responded to Damon’s criticism saying, “It’s fair to say that when it comes to my presidency, the honeymoon is over…Matt Damon said he’s been disappointed in my performance. Well Matt, I just saw the ‘Adjustment Bureau,’ so…right back atcha buddy.”
