Soccer Is A Girls' Game

Love soccer, always have, always will.
I don't follow it because what I care about is playing it.
Foot-eye coordination is much more difficult than hand-eye coordination. (Why? Because you can't run/walk with your hands while you do stuff with the ball with your feet.)
In any case, I would have liked to have done more soccer in my life. I might do some with my friends at some point in time in the future, once I start working out and exercising.

Good thing you are. Honestly in a one on one game against a taller player I'd get beat.

I'm short and am a streaky jumpshooter. My strengths lie in ball handling, perimeter defense and passing. I excel in full court games but struggle in smaller (1v1 or 2v2) games.

The problem is caused by those who think poorly on female sports. I'm glad pimpdave brought this to our attention. ITT, several posters have exposed themselves for who they are really are.

The most offensive thing I've seen in this thread is the violent response to the idea of soccer being a game mostly played by girls. There was no negative value judgment until people burst into the thread defending the manliness of soccer players, assuming that a game for women is somehow less than the physical activities in which men partake. Coupled with the flagrant flaming and baiting involving various American pastimes, I don't understand how this has been allowed to proceed unchecked.

Ok first of all "lame" is an ableist term, please don't use such offensive, bigoted words.

Second of all, you're being disingenuous again. It's pretty obvious from the subtext of pimpdave's posts that when he calls soccer a "women's sport", he's using it as an insult. Claiming that he isn't is simply daft. There are tons of male soccer players, way more than female at least on a professional level. So the only possible motive for pimpdave to be calling soccer a "women's sport" is trying to insult soccer players or soccer fans by comparing them to women. By using femininity as an insult, pimpdave is implying that being feminine is inherently negative, which is a sexist attitude.

Thirdly, there are no games that are "meant" for men or women. There are no "men's sports" or "women's sports", there are only people's sports, and people are free to enjoy what ever sports they like, regardless of their gender. If you challenge this view, I welcome you to try finding a logical reason why any given sport should be assigned to any particular gender.

Ok first of all Serbia, gender is not the same as sex. Gender is based on identity, it has nothing to do with your reproductive organs. If you identify as one gender then you're that gender, regardless of your genitals, end of story.

Secondly, no, there are no inherent differences between genders. There are just assumptions about how male or female -gendered people should act, and people conform to those assumptions due to basically peer pressure. When it comes to actual physical sexes, there may be some biological differences, but they are more like trends in larger populations, which are not applicable to individuals. And none of that justifies treating any particular sport or activity as a "women's thing" or "men's thing".

In all seriousness, natty's right. I justified my previous post with the fact that I just love working people up over silliness like sport, but using sexism for humor is as bad as any other form of sexism. I'm a little ashamed.

No one is saying men can't perform in synchronized swimming! But it's mostly women that participate in that sport, just like with soccer, cheerleading, or baton twirling in a marching band.
