That is all I had to read to know that it baited and hooked you in. That is exactly what D2 was, you had to cow run in HELL with magic find items just to get good items, that is all advanced players did, no one continued to beat the game over and over to find items, yet somehow these cow runs to get some of the best items in the game was addicting, what was the purpose? once you had the best items in the game, then what? Then you got bored after a while, maybe started to go after some PVP items and did that for a while, maybe made a hardcore character, or maybe just started all over from scratch... this is the world of diablo. You said the game is so horrible yet it drew you in for 100+ hours of your precious time AND on top of that you said you will continue to play it after the patch comes out.
this is true, I feel like D2 had a "real goal" to it. Get the best items, which were NOT blues, but legendary or set items that took a LONG time to farm to get. Now I can just farm for a couple Million gold and just buy it off the auction house. But even worse, is that the legendary and set items are not worth a whole lot, there are a ton of yellows that have better stats then them. And it's a lot less gratifying showing off your stupid yellow items.
And in D2 there were things that the "average player" could not obtain. First it didnt take 1 month to get to max level... There were "Torches" that only the elite were able to obtain..
There's nothing like that in this game, at least not yet.... I know it wouldnt be that hard to buy the items I need to finish the game, but then you are right... then what??? So I am lacking the motivation to do it.
Then I think....
Maybe it will be better as the game grows....
Maybe I just matured over the years and realize there IS no accomplishment in wasting 100 hours of my life farming for a fancy item in a video game....
Or maybe I am rightfully hating blizzard for putting out a half hassed franchise title that has to get patched every other week and directly nerfs things that I took hours to finally achieve.

Blizzard is the Zynga of the rpg world.
Very true.
