This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. Check back on the TPA2 scoreboard in the Tournaments--> General Info forum to see how you're doing.
Beat the Odds! Many sequential 2 player tournaments are frustrating because a series can be decided by who goes first in the most games, not by which player is the most skilled. Beat the Odds attempts to remedy this by rewarding players who go 2nd and still manage to win.
Signups All are welcome to join, freemiums keep in mind you'll need to dedicate 3 spots to this tournament for the entire duration, turnaround should be pretty quick though since it's only 2 player games. Signups will last for two weeks, then I will start no matter how many players have signed up. Expect your first games to come sometime around Wednesday, November 9.
One rule that was not covered in the thread was the situation if one player reaches 5 points and there is stillone or more gamse yet to finish. My interpretation is that the points and away wins will be finalised as soon as one player has reached 5 points irrespective of the number of games that may still be ongoing between the two players.
What I will try and ensure from now on though is that after the initial 3 games, I will only send out a further 1 game (rather than 2) if the 5 points could be achieved by one game's result. This would then avoid the above situation.
Just a quick petition to remove "England" from the list of maps for this. It is very likely the most imbalanced 1v1 map on this site... hate to have this be the deciding game (like it is in my match with Ishi).
Hopefully we can at least change this for future rounds!
Just to log the pm's that have been sent and received and publish the conclusions;
England will not be on the list of maps for the next round as its use has been more than average in the previous rounds. I will randomise the map list then all players will receive the maps in sequence. The target for winning the round will be 4 points We will not change the number of second turn wins from 4 as that would disadvantage those players who have accumulated different numbers of them so far.
Round 12 and Bones just hangs on to keep in the running. American theme thrown up by random selection for the three games! Quad Cities, Montreal and Land and Sea to follow if needed.
Congratulations to Enormastitz and Swifte for making the finals! I will keep topping up the number of games as you guys have 7 lives between you which will take you a few games to complete!
i.e. Enormastitz needs 4 x 4 points; Swifte 3 x 4 points (plus any additional sets of 4 points according to the second turn wins.
