I think vodka has flavor. If you don't like the taste, then you're drinking the wrong vodka. A good vodka is like anything else; it'll taste great, and be very smooth. A cheap vodka will be harsh and nasty. I love vodka.

I had a Jack and Cola premixed from a can. It was ok mostly because it was mixed.

I'm having a nice glass of Connemara cask strength peated single malt. I have to say, allmost all my favorite booze is Irish. This stuff fits right in.

Try Greygoose vodka, it is a good quality vodka and reasonably priced. It's good out of the freezer just in a glass, no mix.

I don't know. Did they recover from the famine? It was a while ago, must be new taters these days.

I like svedka for low end vodkas. I don't know much stuff that is higher end than Grey Goose/Ciroc/Crystal Skull/Belvedere(arguably shouldn't even be considered high end by many people I know), and I'm not even sure if there are many that are higher end than that. Part of it seems to me that scotches and whatnot need to be aged, whereas I don't think I've EVER seen an aged vodka, and that improvement of flavor with age is probably what leads to differences in quality and taste.

Or maybe it's that people who drink vodka just don't give a shit about anything other than getting hammered, so they can't even fathom waiting to get to their alchy.

And then the last thing I'd add is that Vodka is the only alcohol that has various flavors, so I don't know how that plays into it, but there's probably something about vodka and how it's made that makes the highest quality it can attain less "fancy" than that of the other liquor types

Buy Kahlua, make white russians, drink white russians. Problem solved.

I've had potato vodka before, but I think what I had came from Poland.

I actually still have a couple of small unlabled bottles, but I belong to something called the "Whiskey Exporer's Club." So I drink the bottles go online and answer questions about it and make myself look foolish.

Oddly enough I generally tend to get the price range right most of the time.

I come from the little land of 'taters (Long Island) and our whiskey vodka (LiV) is a nice vodka. It's not processed to the point where the potato flavor vanishes.

They make good whiskey too.

So what's the favorite Courvoisier?

I just had a glass of Jim Beam Black label. Fortunately it is spectacular for cooking shrimp in, because it's a 26oz bottle and it's not very nice to drink.

The banana liqueur did not hide that vodka. I'll have to try some Kahlua later.

Don't have any Courvoisier, but I was enjoying a glass of Auchentoshan Springwood.

No the banana liqueur is to mix 50/50 with cheap tequila to cover the tequila.

NEVER drink cheap tequila, unless you hate yourself and life.

I just like to drink the banana liqueur. Or make black bananas by mixing it with Kahlua. Yummo!

But I hoped it could make the cheap vodka ok.

Medium-priced tequila is perfectly ok, though.

I actually found some cheap single malt scotch that wasn't all that bad. Still in general cheap is bad. Expensive doesn't always mean the best, because you do have supply and demand to consider in the price.

Single malt isn't tequila anymore than mead is.
