Of the top teams, they have had the most difficult schedule and remained undefeated. They beat USC, they garuntee their #1 spot.oVo wrote:These NCAA shuffles are some weird shit,

Obama is re-elected and somehow Notre Dame is #1?
Unranked Pitt outplayed them and a faux-call on a fourth down play extended a drive in the 4th Quarter and got them back in the game.muy_thaiguy wrote:Granted, their offense is stagnant for the most part, their defense is top class, and led by Hesiman candidate Manti Teo.
Agreed, that was BS... LSU beats 'em and Bama gets a Championship Game do over?muy_thaiguy wrote:Also, I NEVER want to a national title game between 2 conference foes ever again. Especially a rematch from the same division. Some real bullshit there.

It seems to be slightly more obscure than the options you're thinking about. They seem to be discussing American football played by college students. Apparently this is a "thing" in the US.ManBungalow wrote:I'm not sure if this thread is about;

Try a "very big thing" with multipile stadiums that seat over 100,000 people all over the country.Symmetry wrote:It seems to be slightly more obscure than the options you're thinking about. You sound like an expert, but even that explanation sounds kind of disappointing.strike wolf wrote:It won't be a conference match up. The only conference who's close to that position is the SEC with three one loss teams. Florida isn't going to hte National championship (and honestly probably will be beaten by FSU) and the other two will be settled by the SEC Championship.
That being said, what are the chances of Georgia beating Alabama and making it to the National Championship? I think people who know me know I've been cautiously optimistic (at best) about Georgia since their implosion the year they were supposed to be #1 (and a bit before that at times). Personally I think they can beat Alabama but they need to be more consistent on both sides of the ball than they have for most of the season.
As far as Notre Dame, I kind of think they will lose to USC in which case it will probably be Oregon in the NC (assuming that they don't lose again in the toughest stretch of their schedule) against the SEC conference champion.
18-21 (or past, depending on what school and certain circumstances). And conference expansion means what teams will be in what conference. The range from the South East (with the South East Conference, Sunbelt, C-USA East divison, Big East, and ACC), to the Mid-West/North East (Big 10, MAC, ACC, and Big East), to the central time zone (Big 12, Big 10, and C-USA West divsion), to the Moutain Time zone (MWC, PAC-12, WAC, and 1 team in C-USA), to the West Coast (PAC-12, MWC, and WAC).Symmetry wrote:That'd be only in the US though right? I just find it incredulous that Bama lost to a 2 loss team at home, dropped 3 places, while Oregon when up against one of the best defenses in the country against Stanford (also top ranked) and almost was dropped out of the top 10.strike wolf wrote:It won't be a conference match up. I was mostly going by strength of schedule. Though I admit to forgetting that Stanford, not Oregon, now controls it's own destiny in the Pac. Assuming that Stanford doesn't lose it does look less likely that Oregon would be given the chance to play for the National Championship (BCS traditionally favors conference champions) so Kansas State would be the logical choice.. Florida is just a feeling. A lot of their games were ugly. The Georgia game they lost was ugly and they had some ugly wins to so-so teams. I personally feel that FSU is a better team than they are. IF they are 1-loss I would still contend that no one wants to see a rematch of the Georgia-Florida game (It's not an LSU-Alabama situation where there was a strong fan push that they were the two best teams in the country). If Alabama wins the SEC championship than I suppose there is a stronger chance that Florida will get the chance considering that Alabama and Florida did not play Alabama this year. I would still say Kansas State gets the chance assuming that the BCS indeed favors conference champions.Symmetry wrote:You sound like an expert, but even that explanation sounds kind of disappointing.strike wolf wrote:It won't be a conference match up. I meant Georgia losing to Georgia Tech but then turning around and beating Alabama in the SEC title game.@Muy: Umm...Georgia only has 1 loss currently ranked #3.
Improbable. both Georgia and Bans are playing somewhat unimpressive teams this week (not to mention Georgia's already up big on Tech) so I doubt either will have two losses coming into the SEC championship. even if one of then did and beat the one loss team than Florida may still get the spot if they beat FSU. that would be a tragedy as Florida really is the most overranked and overrated team right now.muy_thaiguy wrote:I meant Georgia losing to Georgia Tech but then turning around and beating Alabama in the SEC title game.@Muy: Umm...Georgia only has 1 loss currently ranked #3.

That's the last college football national championship game I watched.AndyDufresne wrote:It has been quite a few years since there was an actual national championship game that I actually was interested in watching. And the last really exciting championship game might have been the Texas-USC matchup some years ago, with Vince Young sprinting into the endzone for the win.
